Any Minolta DiMAGE Z1 owners out there?

Just wondering if any Z1 owners have had any problems with their camera? This is my second Z1, because I love it so much! Why my second? Because my first Z1 froze up right in the middle of taking photos within the first 2 weeks I had it. Well, I thought I would give the model another chance. Now, I have had my second for a little over a year now, and it is doing the same thing! I was at my dn's birthday party yesterday, and in the middle of photos, it shuts down. Try to turn it on, and it sounds like it is working, and then nothing. When the batteries are low, it will give you the warning, but I really don't think that is the case, even though I have not tried new batteries yet. I have taken thousands of pictures with this camera and I am so disappointed.

I think I will have to make a 3 hr. trip to my closest Costco, and try to return it this weekend. Now, I feel like I'm back at square one and have to start researching cameras again. Ugh, I hate this.

I've had mine for over a year now with no problems, and have taken easily 10,000 photo's with it.

I've had mine for 2 years now... no problems at all! I even dropped it on the street once... and it's still working great!

BTW--I really wonder if batteries aren't your problem. I have rechargeables and recahrge them after every use, and when i expect to take a large number of photo's I take a spare set with me as well. (On May 7th I took over 800 pics in ONE DAY!!)

I've had my D1 since 2002 and they DO eat the batteries.

Now that you mention it, I do the same as ducklite - always recharge because this camera is a battery hog. Whenever it starts taking more than 10 seconds to recharge the flash I change them out.
