Looked around their website, did not see anything. I know Disney and Seaworld both have discounts out there. If not, any advice for a US newbie on discounted tickets? Thanks,

Scott

Looks like they have to be used by march 26. I don't see anything past that date right now, although they could offer an extension to compete with the Disney offer.

I suggest checking with your ITT/MWR for their rates on tickets. We went Aug 2009. In Aug 2008 we started looking for tickets. I checked every MWR/ITT on the east coast to compare prices. While SOG was charging $100 for an adult ticket, I was able to get them in VA for less than $80 a piece. They were also willing to mail them to me for a flat fee of $15. Even with the mailing fee, it was still a huge savings for 5 tickets. Bonus came later when they offered the free military member ticket. Since my dad (who went with us) and husband are both retired military, we were left with 2 unused tickets that I have saved for our next trip. :thumbsup2

Since you are a US newbie, also look into the military discount for the onsite hotels. You might have to call reservations for the discount amount as most codes don't work online. The savings is amazing and being onsite gives you unlimited FOTL which is soooooo worth it.

I have found this.

Universal Orlando's Military Salute program has been extended until March 26, 2010. Military members can pick up their free 7-Day tickets at the ITR Office anytime before 3/26/10. Family tickets are available at a significant discount. (No blackout dates apply; not available at the gate).

Looks like the free ticket has to be picked up by March 3. I think then it doesn't expire until you use it.

Do you have a link damo? My site says something a bit different.

The very fine print at the bottom of the page I linked states the following.....

"Offer available through March 26, 2010" So, you have until then to pick up the free one or purchase a dependent one at either a military base or at Shades of Green.

"Tickets must be used completely by March 26, 2010 or will automatically expire." This means that even though you may activate the ticket on march 22 and have a few days left on it after March 26, it is too bad...you lose the remaining days because the ticket has expired.

Crossing my fingers they do extend the promo to compete with Disney, as we are going for the first time in May.

Thanks so much to all of you. I actually did find the US military site after my initial post, but did not see the 26March expiration. Thanks to guys for pointing it out, we are planning on a June trip and I would have been hosed! Guess I'll keep watching to see if they extend the offer.

I have used them for the last four trips to Orlando. You can find places from 1 bedroom to 4 bedrooms that sleep up to:thumbsup210 people. and they all cost the same. Less then $400 for 7 days. Made sure you use space A

So Shades of Green should have them?
On the Shades website, they don't look very discounted at all.:confused3

Also, does anyone know what the 'substantial discount' for dependents is? What price are they?
