I think someone mentioned here once theat a meal plan like what is now being offered to non DVC disney guest will be offered soon, anyone know?

Nothing to suggest it's really going to happen and I'd doubt it will. You can get the discount on the Disney Dining Experience if you have an AP. And you can get a discount on an AP/PAP through the DVC membership.

We have APs that expire this August but we still got the DDE card for our trip in June. At 20% discount on so many places, it actually works out better than a lot of the dining plans that Disney seems to offer. We look at it as saving us all our tip money. If you have an AP that might be the way to go!!

There were also some posts a few weeks back about making the MYW Meal Plan available for DVC. Someone called MS and was told they were working on that, and it was just a matter of getting two computer systems to talk to each other.

Now, whether that is accurate info or not...?

You can get the DDE card whether or not you are an annual pass holder. It's $75 per year (actually a little more than a year), or $50 if you are an annual pass holder. There is no separate DVC discount for the DDE card.

Also, DDE is not only 20% off, but it is 20% off including alcoholic beverages, which most other discount plans exclude. If you like a bottle of wine with dinner, or you want to sit somewhere and knock down a few beers, that is a good thing.

The DDE card may be used for parties up to ten people, provided that the card is presented at the time of ordering, that everyone is on one check, and that the DDE cardholder is paying the check.

I'm not sure what the limitations are with the regular DVC discount.

Actually it's limited to only FL residents and AP holders.

When the program was opened up to AP holders earlier this year, the office that handles the DDE had to hire and traing additional staff. Somewhere along they way they lost focus of which groups were actually eligible for the card and were issuing them to ANYONE for about 2-3 weeks.

Since that confusion was overcome, DDE is again limited to just AP holders and FL residents. AP holders are being asked to provide either their AP number or AP voucher number in order to purchase the card.

Oooops...didn't know I was so special! Sorry.

Like a lot of other things, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, so let's hope it eventually gets changed. Disney's multitudenous discount categories are so targeted and complex, it's hard to make sense of sometimes. I'm sure THEY know what they are doing, but I often don't. Hopefully they will eventually broaden the DDE market. It's a great plan.

And also, if they were going to broaden the DDE, I would hope they would offer it to DVC owners first.

I agree. With our points we only plan to make it down to Disney once every year or two and I'm not certain Annual Passes will always be in our future, but currently the AP is the only way that our family (as Texas residents) has to obtain the DDE discount card.
