Any luck with National ID's and Coupons codes

Anyone know what 8572957 is? Another DIS'r entered it by accident and it gave an extremely low rate!

I tried it and same for me...so I called National and the guy said it was for "Travel Solutions" and I could use it.

I googled the code and found nothing. Anyone?:confused3

That rate brought my nine day rental down to $180.93! This is from $275 originally! I hope this code is a good one.

I got you beat. It brought my $557 rate for a convertible down to $188!
Question--how would it not be good? If it goes through on the computer without any message about coupon/showing ID etc., I don't see how there would be a problem. (Let's hope!)

WOW you do have me beat! WAY TO GO! What I mean by I hope it is a good one , is that to be able to use it I hope you don't have to belong to a certain organization or something that I do not qualify for. It is an awesome rate and I am planning on getting a $100 gift certificate from Airmiles to apply to this and bring my rate down to $80 for 9 days! THAT would be so nice!

Just used this code...got a mid size for 1 week in Sept, total is $133!!!

This rate dropped my mini van rental down to $169....from $256. I googled Travel solutions...looks like a travel agency code? Booked my October rental for the same price...

Very sweet!
I'm sure the code will be fine--after all, someone did call National and check, right? :)

I've never used National before, but with these codes/coupons, I just have to go for it. We are flying into to Tampa because it is halfway in between Orlando and Siesta Key, which is where we will be visiting. The best deal I had was w/ dollar for a minivan: 400.00 for 10 days June (4-14). Now w/ the 8572957 code and coupon ND2119071Q the rate is 258.00 incl. ins.!!:cool1:

Now my question is, if I join the Emerald Club, and do the Emerald aisle which sounds great, there is a possibility I may not get a minivan? We have 2 adults and 3 small kids and luggage for us all, so I need something big. Also, after you pick the car from the Aisle, you have to see someone to get a key for it don't you?? :confused3 (Sorry, if stupid question)

TIA!!

Your reservation should say EMERALD RESERVE for a mini-van. You don't go to the emerald aisle row, you go to the mini-van row. Ask the garage attendant for help if you need to. We have rented from National at Tampa, no problems. If you rented an intermediate for EMERALD AISLE service, you are not guaranteed anything larger than an intermediate.

I copied and pasted my post to the other threa regarding this code below- Please be careful and ready to be asked for travel agent ID. It is not guaranteed they will ask you but they are supposed to. A similar issue happened with another code a few years back, prompting Mary to take the code off of Mousesaver.

"PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be careful using this code. I made the exact same mistake as the OP did about a month ago. I called Alamo twice and was told both times I would need to show proof of employment/IATA ID at the gate. I would at a minimum have a back up plan. The rate is incredible so it does make sense that it is only for a select group of people. I am erring on the side of caution and not using the code. I don't need any potential hassles while I am starting out on my vacation."

I just got off the phone with National and asked them if I had to be a travel agent to use the code or if anyone could use it. He put me on hold and asked and came back and said anyone can use it. I then said i was asking this because I didn't want to show up to get my car rental and then have them ask me for my travel agent ID. He said no it was fine for me to use it even though I wasn't a travel agent or had it booked by a travel agent. Having a back-up plan would be nice but if you don't cancel your other back-up ressie within 24 hours is it? you will have to pay for both, am I right? So I would will use the 8572957 and if they say anything then I would give them the other code to apply verbally I guess.:confused3

I don't believe they can charge you for a reservation that was not cancelled since it is not reserved with a credit card. What can happen is they may cancel one. I have not heard that it has occurred to anyone but I have two cars rented for our July trip and also for our November trip - because we need two cars. I received an email from National about my duplicate reservations so they are monitoring it. Maybe someone else will have insight as to this.

As far as trying to apply the code at the time up rental, you will not get the same price. The code will be applied to the rental fees in effect on that date and they are always higher (in my experience) on the date of the rental. Anyone renting int he near future and willing to be a guinea pig for us?

I don't know who to believe now. I made a 2nd call to National to get a different person and asked the same exact question about needing to be a travel agent or part of the that travel club and he said at rental car desk one would be required to present proof of being a member of that travel club or a print out from the travel club showing this code was valid for me to use. :confused3 :confused3 So, I think I might just stick with the code I was using.

I looked at the rental policy info online for National and under "No shows" it does say they will charge a $50 cx fee if you don't pick up the car by using the cc info. you entered while making your on-line ressie. I called to verify this and the man said if you make the ressie over the phone you could have 2 ressies for the same date at different prices and when you show up just cx whichever one you don't care to use w/o any cx fee. If the ressie is made on-line they will charge you $50 even though technically you didn't reserve it with a credit card but only had your cc info on file. Has anyone showed up and cancelled one ressie on day of pick up and been charged the cx fee or not? Would be interested in hearing feedback. He said if the cx is done 24 hours ahead of time then no fee charged.

People have been using this code left and right with no problems. Read the whole thread to see. It is still up to you what you do but it's worth a try right? Just have a back up coupon.
Has anyone said where the $35.00 off coupon is coming from? Did I miss that?

Actually for the 8572957 code I have only read people were able to make the reservation either online or over the phone but as to ones actually going to the rental place, picking up their cars and completing their trip, I haven't read any feedback on that. If the contract ID isn't honored at time of pick-up there isn't a back up contract code you can use there on the spot.

Well, I'm really bummed to hear that it may not work!!:headache:
Like alot of you, I've been working on this car rental stuff practically non stop for awhile now and thought I was finally done!!

I'm going to keep that 8572957 ressie in place and I made a backup ressie with the Sam's club code 5026004 and the 35.00 coupon, it came to 408.00. 150.00 more than other ressie!!
This way I will see if anyone had any problems with the TA code by watching the Dis and proceed accordingly. I'm hoping that since I joined the Emerald Club and this will be an emerald reserve rental, they will just let us go at the gate without a lot of questions!! But we have 2 mos. to go, so I guess it's just watch and wait and see if ANOTHER good deal comes along, hopefully!!;)

I think you have the codes mixed up. The original code from this thread is 8572987 which people have been using successfully. Someone posted code 8572957 in the last day or two which provides a very deep discount but it is some type of travel agent code. A renter may be asked to show proper ID for use of this code at time the car is picked up. personally, I do not think it is worth the chance of being stuck with a full price rental if you do not have the proper credentials to use the code at time of pick up.

Hmmm--I think I will switch back to using the VISA code. This is too risky for my comfort...
Thanks for the heads up! :thumbsup2

I was confused. You're right. Sorry.

WOW!!! That is outragous how low it dropped!!!!! VERY curious to see if people are pulling this one off! I plugged it in for Ft Myers with a $35.00 off code(which I still don't know where it came from) and got a $90.00 rate for a weeks rental for a midsize! Yikes!
