Any luck with National ID's and Coupons codes

That Visa ID just shaved another $64.86 off our 2 week rental in California. It changed many of the extra fees to included also. Thank you so much.

Did you use their $30 off too???

Did you use their $30 off too???

Yes, I did. I had the $30 e-coupon in my original reservation, so I was just changing the contract ID this time.

I've read this entire thread & don't see this mentioned. Only one poster googled it & mentioned itm but misquoted what the ad actually says. What's bothering me about this magical contract ID is the wording I'm finding on all the international Visa ads that come up when you google.
Here is an example of just one of them.
http://www.nbd.com/NBD/NBD_CDA/CDA_Document_Library/Documents/National_Car_Rental.pdf
READ THE PART IN BLUE. It says contract ID 3715124 is to be used for rentals in US, & the "magical" code is for international rentals...and to pay with your Visa. Of course, the magical code is all the talk on every budget saving message board & coupon site however. lol

It no longer shows up on visa.com's (US) website since it has expired. There is a 20% off Alamo code available on the visa.com site.

I know several have called & confirmed. I'll be following this since my reservation isn't until later & its in CA, not MCO. I'm paying with Visa btw & I've used the magical ID. Just keeping fingers crossed. Its just my luck that National will have caught on by the time I travel. lol

People have been reporting that there has not been an issue with the code when they pick up their car at National. I am hoping that when they drop it off, it will stay the same. Also, just to confirm, you do not have to use a Visa for payment. Please confirm if possible.

I emailed National to ask if I have to use a Visa, and I am waiting to hear back. I am going to print their response to have a "hard copy" of it should I run into problems using this code.. It is a good rate, and I hope it drops as my date gets closer.

Thank you! Looking forward to your response.

;) While you are at it, could you ask them if you can use the INTERNATIONAL contract ID for US rentals INSTEAD of using the US contract ID as stated about 4 posts back?

I'm more concerned about the contract ID than I am about how I'm paying for it. lol

I heard back from them and it is all good!!!

Message: I would like to use contract code 8572987 for my upcoming trip, which gives the best rate out of all the company's at Orlando Airport. But I was told it was a Visa code and I would like to pay by AMEX, not Visa. Do I NEED to have a visa presented or can I pay by American Express? If you can please let me know I would appreciate it!

You know they are smart to let people use this code. In the long run it HAS to be making them money if everyone is running to National for their cars. The business is very competive. A discounted car going out is better then no car going out, right?

That email does NOT answer the question about using the INTERNATIONAL code in the US instead of using the US code as per their instructions. I'm stilling going for it however. I just want others to be aware that at some point, they might change their mind and go with their original offer since they never made the offer that people are using.

I was renting from National already before I learned of this code & it doesn't reduce my price enough to make or break the deal if I find out that they caught on. I just would HATE to see someone think they are going to get one price & found out its going to be hundreds more if they really can't afford it.

I wish everyone the best of luck.

I did mention where I was going to be using it, I said at orlando which is in the usa I think it will be ok to be honest

I used the "international" code at MCO without any questions last week. I did pay with a Visa, but I was planning too anyway. The code just about cut my rate in half.

We got an SUV (5 passenger) for July 3-12 using the contract ID # 5063773 and the price was 360.13 . Can anyone tell me where that contact ID is from?? I am nervous as I got it from this site but no one mentioned where it came from...........YIKES 10 days for $360 is GREAT!!!!!

CONTRACT ID 5063773 is a Travel Agent's code, I did a google search to find that out, someone said they did not need to show id.
hope this helps

I can't remember where I read it but I believe this is a travel agent code for PRT travel.

Bonny

I will keep the ressi and then make another just in case. I hate to do that I feel as if I am keeping another person from getting the car they want!! I will keep plugging away for a great rate without Travel Agent contract ID. I am not a travel agent but boy do I feel like one when I plan these trips!!

Just to let you know - the VISA code did work in Orlando - we left today and our National statement was exactly as originally quoted. I think that you can rest comfortably that it does work!!! Good luck to all of you who have used it in your reservations.

Just a quick question - did you pay for the reservation with a Visa card? That seems to be the mystery of the code that you have to pay with a visa credit card. TIA.

I just dropped my car at MCO and my rate was just what I was quoted. I did use my Visa but when I checked in I was asked if I wanted to use my Amex on file. I think you would be fine either way.
