Any luck with National ID's and Coupons codes

I have booked a minivan for December in Tampa. Hoping for a code or coupon to use. Is their a shuttle for National in Tampa?

I am not sure why the $35 coupon is not working for you. I have booked March 11 to March 18 (about 6 1/2 days) so maybe that is why???

I have read elsewhere (don't remeber now where) that the $35 coupon was suppose to expire end of dec but it has been extended BUT I have no idea if this is true or not.

I think if you are worried re using it then stick with the $30 coupon. i got the $35 to work so I am going to stick with it. Yes $172 and change for my time Emerald Aisle (this is with the great Visa contact id)

I think you are correct about the length. I would love to have saved the extra $5, but no complaints on the $177 :cool1: especially without any codes, rentals are running about $79.00 a day or more because we are going to be down during spring break.

We used the code also, 2/19 - 2/16....They also asked us if we wanted to use our amex that was on file.

I have a Visa but my Amex is what's on file for Emerald Club...I didn't change that but it accepted the code when I booked on line.

I did not go back through the thread to find who posted that Visa code but thanks for that :thumbsup2

I could not get the $35 code to work. I am only having the car for 6 days even though it is considered 1 week. I am wondering if you need to have the car for 7 days :confused3

when are you going?
i found it worked for our may trip, but not our sept/oct one.

other variables you might be able to play with: time of day (try changing 1/2 - 1 hour later/earlier), origin of P/U (if you are staying on-site, & can use ME, then P/U at one of national desks at WDW ~ MCO might have hit their max for the coupon usage, etc).

& just wanted to thank the OP ~ this was the only combo that gave us a rate even resembling reasonable (i was about to give up, & forego a car :sad1: ).
big, HUGE :thumbsup2 for you!!!

laurie s :)

I think the $35 code only works if you are planning on keeping the car a minimum of 7 days. I could not get it to work for 6 days:confused3 but was able to use a different code on their website for $30 off a weeks rental with a Saturday night. HTH
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Can you mix this Visa code with a coupon other than the national coupon? For example, Visa code with Entertainment book coupon for free weekend day?

Thanks!

I think so. The Visa code is actually a "contract ID" number and I think if you have a "coupon code" you can place it in the field "coupon code".
That is how I was able to use the Visa contract code and then have a code for the coupon - total cost for 6 days/unlimited mileage/intermediate size car = $177.00.
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Yes, that's exactly what I have done for a long weekend in New York in May.

I love this magic code!

I used it with an entertainment $20 off weekly rental and it took an extra $20 off.

Yes, the shuttle is very easy. Just look for the double doors at the end of the baggage claim area. You will be outside under a covered area, that stinks like exhaust. But we have never had to inhale exhaust fumes for more than 5 minutes before the next shuttle arrived. If you are renting EA the cars will be sitting outside on the aisle (no inside garage at Tampa).

We used the visa code successfully last week. Total charge was what the national web site said. Since we didn't look to rent for the last minute trip until a couple weeks before the trip, we saved like $250 (about half) of what the suv rental price was for all the other discount codes.!!!

So, it at least worked fine at the MCO.

I was pricing May 1-5th, four days. Rate with free weekend day coupon code and all Contract IDs was showing up $160. Used Visa code, DOUBLED the price...what is up with that? Then I used the TA code and took it down to $118!

Thank you so much Connie! That is good news. We leave in 2 weeks and can hardly wait!

for those not needing a weekly rental - here's another coupon $15 off a 3-day weekend rental http://www.nationalcar.com/index.do?action=/hotDealsTemplate&msg=ZL_15Off_3day_coupon

that being said, the rates at Enterprise (with the Entertainment book coupon) were a few bucks cheaper than National for a std. SUV 4/30 - 5/6/08 so you might want to surf on over to Enterprise's web site as well.

Did the Enterprise rate include all the insurance options same as the VISA code for National?

I put this in a new thread, but here is my post:
Wanted to share my two National experiences. We had two different rentals. One 7 day rental using the Visa International Code and the National $35 coupon. We picked up a red Chevy Impala on Emerald Aisle last Friday and will return to airport this Friday. There were minivans on the aisle but due to gas prices, we chose a chevy for 4 adults. Nice car, plenty of trunk space.
Yesterday my DH and myself took a disney bus from AK park to the Dolphin to pick up my one day rental. We got a Toyota RAV4, red, very nice. I used my one day free promotional code from the Nov/Dec promotion and only paid $2.64 for the 24 hour rental. Not bad. I put in approx. 1 1/2 gallons of gas in for $6.00.. Gas price was $3.169 at the HESS gas station by the DTD.
We are now sitting at the Jet Blue gate 112. OUr 235PM has been delayed until 4:40PM
My brother in law will return the Chevy on Friday when he returns to the airport.
Both rentals were for an intermediate....

Wow! That's a great deal on the 24 hour rental! Congrats! I'm looking to rent for one day too, but coming up w/$70+! Off to search for codes!!

My DH belongs to Hertz award program and when we were in Hawaii for 10 days, we had enough points for a 1-week rental and 3-free days. When we returned the car - no kidding - cost $7.75 for taxes!:cool1:
Love those award programs:banana:
