Any interest in an ABC swap? update post #107-8,p8

I would be interested but more so if the title said A is for . . . and let you fill in the rest. Some of the elements might contain words but i would rather be able to fill in my own words. Without children mine would probably be very different. I have had a number of pieces from previous abc swaps that were just noit useable for me and to pout in this kjind of committment I would want to be able to use all the pages.

I like the idea of trying to do a completed swap but I would rather have it generic instead of as an autograph book. The 6 X6 pages are god for autographs.

I really like the ABC pages that have been posted in another thread the past couple of days.

This swap would be an ABC swap, not an autograph book one. (The only 8x8 pages I had as examples were from an autograph book.)

I agree that it is too much work to not be able to use it.
I'd like to think this through. I like the idea of just A is for and you get to fill it in.

Some questions:

1> Would it need to be a 12x12 page? Is there enough room on a 8x8 to have A is for, photomat, embellishment, and then later fill in what A is for?

2. How to work paper, elements and embellishment -- let's say I have P. I do my page in green and yellow and black. Even though it is generic P is for...this isn't going to work too well for say princesses and pirates, but it would be fine for Pluto. What kinds of embellishments to put on the page?

I appreciate your thoughts on this.

those are good questions... and I think that it would be very difficult to come up with generic pages that would work for anything for a specific letter. (your "P" example was a good one).
do you think there would be enough interest to do groups of completed pages for
a) girls
b) boys
c) adults
d) characters
e) resorts

(just throwing random ideas out there, not that they all would be even possible or that people would want to do them!)

I think I'll probably stick with the elements. I like the page idea, but I'd rather make my own pages since I like to put more pictures on a page than just 1 or 2 and I might like some of the pages to be multiple themes for a specific letter. Like I might want P to be for princess, pirates, and Pluto all on the same page.

I agree with DisneyIsTerrific. Although could we possibly have people do two different elements for a letter - meaning, if you select P, then you would do something for Pluto AND something for Princess. So from that everyone can use the stuff, and not possibly get stuck with elements that are not usable for that letter. Is that doable?

tell me if this is too controlling, but the 3 colored album gave me an idea.

How about we do red, black, white, and yellow pages. The pages have to be those colors, in what ever paper you find. I know it gets very specific but I think it would be cool, and you would have a ready made album when you were finished.

then do A is for........ title, 1 mat, 1 journal box, 1 element. (8x8)

yes, no???

I love it!

1. When you say A is for.... do you mean that literally? We leave it just like that, not I choose Ariel so my title is A is for Ariel?

2. Title can be a topper or letters afixed to the page

3. element question: Do we want to keep them non-specific?? Think icons from the MF cart. Or no, if you want to do an Ariel paper piecing go ahead.

4. requirements: I think it limits your element selection if you have to fit both a journal box and a mat on the 8x8 -- I think I would rather state that there must be a place for journaling -- can be a tag, a box, a tag that slides behind the mat, a photomat that opens like a book etc.

Please please let me know what you all would like.

I still intend to do both an 8x8 completed pages groups and a typical elements only group where you pick 2 letters and choose specific topics

I did not address this earlier ... I would love to be able to split it up, but I don't think we have the numbers. If I am underestimating the interest, please speak up!

I'm so confused about this swap it's making my head spin. Could someone please tell me the correct answers: 8x8 or 12x12?, ABC only or completed pages?, 1 letter or 3 letters?, All I know is I would love to be in a ABC Swap and I have to work 12 hours the day the letters have to be put in, so if we do decide ont that is the way we are going can someone be my buddy and put my letters or letter which ever it may be in for me..........LOVE YA!!

I like the thought of an element to go with the letter. Like A for Ariel. If its just A is for... then it will be harder to put together an albulm quickly.

Hey PigletsPal, I can volunteer to be your sign-up buddy. Let me know if you need me!

My head is spinning too. I have 10 kids descending on me any minute so I will get back to this. I will sort through everyone's ideas and try to present it more logically tonight. (If I survive the afternoon)

1. Yes I meant literally "A is for ....." but if you want to pick a subject that is cool too. I just thought it would good for those without kids because there are things people can't use if it's kiddish. Either way is fine with me.

2. letters on the page are fine with me, I don't always use a traditional topper.

3. would depend on #1.

4. forgot we were only doing 1 page. So I say as long as there is the title and 1 mat, the rest is up to the swapper. Refer back to #1 and #3.

This swap will be 2 sections , swapped and mailed at the same time
section A will be ABC only, I think 2 letters a person

Section B will be 8x8 1 page layouts, not sure how many pages per person

Since it is getting closer for time for my vacation I will ask this here. I will be in Aruba the day this swap opens. Is there someone that would be willing to help sign me up? I was going to try to get on the computer but will be off the boat all day on an excursion. I would really appreciate it. You can pm me if you prefer.

Just PM your preferences, in order, and I'll do it for you.

I am just finishing up an ABC book, and I think it can be hard to do an ABC book based on a swap in general because you may not have photos of the things in the swap.

For example you may not have an I is for Ice Cream photo.

Also, if we kept the pieces to more general disney items they would be more functional in other books, like the characters and the attractions. Leave off the "A is for. . ."

For Example

"Aladdin" for photos with Aladdin and/or Jasmine or riding Aladdin's Magic Carpets.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Castle

Donald Duck or Dinoland

Expedition Everest
