Any interest in an ABC swap? update post #107-8,p8

I am interested but a tad bit scared!

I too would need some 'splaining. I don't use too many elements in my books other than journal boxes and tags.

Would we be assigned the 2 letters we need to do? So if I got, say, T and D I would do a page (or 13 pages right?) for Tigger and Donald or just a generic T and D page for someone to fill in with the pictures they have of, say, Turk and Drizella??

Oh who else will be obsessing with me!?:lmao:

Sorry I missed your post.

No, you will not be assigned letters. At sign-ups, scheduled for May 14, you will choose your two letters. You'll have to check to make sure that no one else has already chosen those letters.

You will not actually be doing a whole page, just elements to go on a page. (So no 12x12 or 8x8 cardstock)

I have not yet worked out the details of the swap. I am tentatively planning on a topper, 1 photomat, 1 journal box and one other element. I am thinking of providing a list of 3-5 topics per letter for you to choose from.

After the MK swap signups next week, I hope to spend some time planning this.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

- I would *really* love to do this... I would help facilitate in anyway I could (although that is probably cold comfort for those of you who were burnt on that last one...)

Thanks for the offer to help and for your enthusiasm! We are on the schedule for May 14. I know 2+ months away...but we have the MK swap and the eat around the world swap coming up. In April there is the surprise swap which is a big favorite!!

OK sorry to be a numbskull. Just clarifying. Elements only no pages check. Sign up for my 2 letters. Check. You will provide topics for each letter. umm..so for instance, T - you might include topics Tigger, Tomorrowland, and Thunder Mountain. Yes? And I would pick one of those or people would vote on the topics they want or I could blaze my own trail and say do Tom Sawyers Island? Really not trying to be controversial just trying to understand.

Thanks!

That is basically where I am stuck. No voting, it just takes too long, from previous experience. We don't want to exclude DL people, so sometimes ride specific topics are not good. It has to be either general topics like Autographs, Are we there yet? (but not Airplane) etc, or things common to all parks like Mickey mouse, It's A small world. Tom Sawyer's Island -- I don't know, is it at DL too?

I am not interested in controlling topics so much...I am more interested in efficiently making sure the topics are good for both WDW and DL. I would hate for you or anyone to pick the letter S intending to do the Swiss Family Treehouse only to find out after the fact that you can't do that because it doesn't work for DL.

So I think it is either post a list to pick from, or I am stuck being the topic police -- you post your topic and I say whether or not it is okay. I don't really want to be in that positon -- I was a teacher and now a mom. I am tired of telling people what to do!!!

Perhaps a third option would be to generate a list as a group? You don't get to kick stuff off the list if you don't like it (I really don't want to do voting, can you tell?) -- just if it doesn't work. Have you participated in an ABC swap before? I'd like to hear what your group did.

Oooh what is the surprise swap?

Oooh what is the surprise swap?

KatDisney is the hostess. Basically, 6 to a group, one element, whatever you want...it's a surprise! The last one had Disney groups and holiday groups. There should be photos in the swap photo stickey.

Did not do an ABC swap before. Just Disney in general. And not page layouts per se just scrapbooking embellishments.

I understand what you are saying though - especially about being the topic police. Had not really thought about the DL/WDW thing. Being from CA when I hear Disney I immediately think Disneyland. So definitely did not intend to leave the WDW'ers out. That would be bad and defeat the purpose of the whole swap.

I think a topic list is a good idea. Gives some guidance and let those more creative than me a chance to go out on that limb.:rotfl:

I am interested in doing this swap and hope it can be pulled together:thumbsup2 Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist you.

I'll probably need help with DL. Good to know there is someone familiar with it!

Don't worry I'd say 99.5% of the ladies here on DIS go to WDW and not DL :)I 've never been to WDW but i still sign up.

I personally would lean more towards generic topics that can be used at either park. There are MANY things that can be used for both parks. And I figure I can't use a few of the things there are options. You can alter or recreate certain letters

Swiss Family Tree house in DL is Tarzan's Tree house. Tom Sawyers Island has been converted to Pirate Cove.

Hi! I just found this swap idea and I would be really interested in joining. Please keep me updated!

Sure! We are scheduled for sign ups on May 14th. I have not worked out the details yet. I've been slacking a bit. I will definitely post the details well in advance of sign up day.

If you have particpated in an ABC swap before, please send me a pm and let me know how your swap worked. Thanks!

I've been bit by the completed pages bug.

I'd like offer a group of 8x8 completed ABC pages.

Requirements:
1. one photomat to fit a 4x6 photo without cropping
2. some sort of title -- either a topper or letters attached to the page
3. one large element, or 2 small elements (use your judgment, the page needs to be finished accept for the photo)

For this group, flat rate priority return postage and D/C will be required.

1. Sooooo...is there interest in this? Should I offer both a completed pages group and an elements only group ( topper + 2 elements??) Please respond to let me know what you would be interested in.

2. Is there anyone that would be interested in more than one group? (A book for each kid??)

Please note: For this swap, since space is limited, I will not be accepting pre-sign ups. If you will not be available during sign-ups, please ask a buddy to sign up for you or pm me and I will find someone for you. Thanks for your understanding.

I would be interested in either or (or even both:goodvibes) I do like the idea of signing up for 2. I would love to make up books for both my nieces.

I would lean towards more general stuff too - but I'm flexible

on #2 could I just sign up for 4 letters so I could get 4 books, 1 for each kid? Or 2 in one group and 2 in the other group?
