Hi Guys!
I just read about a survey that Deb Wills did pertaining to Disney's "Guest Express" in this weeks AllEars Newsletter and was curious if anyone had any additional info. It sounds like a wonderful service and I hope they implement it soon.
Here's the excerpt from Deb's Newsletter.

GUEST EXPRESSS

ALL EARS™ Editor-in-Chief Deb Wills recently filled out a survey based on her December 2003 stay at WDW. Several of the questions pertained to something called Guest Express:

"Now you can begin your Walt Disney World® vacation the moment you arrive! Disney's new Guest Express is a timesaving service that eliminates the hassles of baggage handling and transportation. It's an exclusive benefit available only to Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests. You'll be greeted at the airport by a Disney representative and directed to the 'Disney Welcome Center,' where you'll check in and quickly board a Disney-themed motor coach for transport to your Disney resort. Then, while you're getting settled at your resort or off enjoying the magic, your specially tagged luggage will bypass baggage claim and be taken directly to your resort room. And finally, at the end of your vacation, Disney will transport you and your bags back to the airport where you'll have Disney assistance getting your bags checked in before proceeding to the gate."

The description concluded with, "Would you pay $30 per person round-trip or $15 per one way for this service?" Only time will tell if it is soon to be part of WDW's offerings.

Thanks for any info!!!

Hmm... "Guest Express" is the name of the Aramark (Disney cast cafeteria operator) payroll deduction card... so that's what I thought of when I saw that... LOL

The contract with Mears was up a long time ago, from what I hear... so Disney is anxious to put this plan into works. I for one would love to drive the coaches :) :)

Tyler, i don't mean to sound negative but it sounds a little expensive to me when i can hire a towncar and go directly to my resort without any other stops along the way. Also, i am sure you love driving but stay a PC. ::yes:: From reports i have read, you are an excellent assest to this resort. Hope to meet you in July:bounce:

BTW, i do like the sound of the luggage procedure;)

Indeed, the Luggage is a good draw. And without it to worry about, one or two additional stops won't really add more than a few minutes.

As for me... I like change, and I'm always looking for something new. As it stands, I have some other things in the works. Who knows if I'll get selected, but we'll see. :)

Tyler, whatever you possibly have in the making, good luck with it;) You know, the more i think about the probability that Disney may come up with such a transportation plan, i may persuade myself to like it. I have to admit, that with the luggage plans it does look more attractive. Any idea as to when we can expect this to become reality?

Certainly worth looking at. So, Tyler, looks like you might be missing the old bus thing. I'm not sure I'ld pay $90 for the three of us vs. $90+tip for a towncar tho. Maybe the whole luggage thing would make it worthwhile. Wonder when they might start something like that.

The problem is, that it will probably be related to packages with UPH passes, etc.

Disney seems to be really backing away from us folks that book everything seperately.

I hope it's not just for those with a package because I for one would love to see this service put into place.

Anyone else have any info??

I, too, took this survey at about the same time Deb Wills did. My survey questions used different dollar amounts. Mine used $10 roundtrip and $5 one way. I suspect they were testing the market to establish what would be a good breakeven price for them. I agree that $30 would be too much unless you were a single or couple traveling. On the other hand, I can't imagine it being only $10. I'm going to guess the price will fall somewhere in between. Since I travel solo often, I'm really looking forward to something like this.

Disney's new Guest Express is a timesaving service that eliminates the hassles of baggage handling and transportation.

Do they mean I would bring my luggage to the bus at the airport, and then it would stay with the luggage room until they bring it to my room, or do they mean I would go directly to the bus and someone else would get my luggage? I hope it means the first, since I would want to make sure I had all my luggage, myself.

I personally think, that just like other hotels, it would be nice if guests were offered a complimentary shuttle to their hotel.
