Any info on Don Cesar Resort?

I was planning my trip to WDW/Clearwater Beach and had my hotels narrowed down to two. But today, I got a Loews First Platinum card in the mail for my recent stay at their Portofino Bay hotel at Universal. So, now I'm considering staying at their Don Cesar hotel in St. Pete instead.

Does anyone have any info on this hotel or the area down there? I can get a free upgrade to a suite if one is available. Has anyone ever stayed in one of their suites? If so, what are they like. I'd appreciate any information you can give me on this hotel and area. Thanks!!

My family and I stayed at their sister resort, "Beach House Suites" a couple of complexes down the beach. We had all of the perks of staying at the Don during our stay. We stayed for seven magical nights. The Don has a great history and we enjoyed our tour and the fine dining at their restaurant was a wonderful experience. Last year we stayed farther north in Indian Shores because I couldn't get a three bedroom at St. Pete's. St. Pete's was by far the better experience. The Don has wave runners, parasailing, etc. Crabby Bill's was a nice place with good seafood and a spectacular view of the sunset. I have now made myself "homesick" for St. Pete's..!!!

It is an amazing hotel. i have stayed there twice. It is just magical, you will feel like you are in a movie. It is a historic hotel so it has a old world feel to it. Samantha Brown did a show on it a few years back. GO and have fun.

I remember that Great Hotels show, but I don't think I saw the whole thing. I usually tape those if I think I might be going there. I have the Disney hotels taped. Maybe they'll run it again soon!

The area sounds great. I'm definitely going to look into this more. Thanks.
