Bare with me here-- this sounds crazy, but for my dgf, a highlight of our upcoming trip is a visit to the capybaras that supposedly live on the Discovery Island trails in AK. However, I'm a little concerned because the only info I can find online is pretty out of date and I'm finding some reports that the capybaras may not be there anymore.

Can anyone who has been there recently confirm or deny presence of capybaras? I know this is obscure but I want to warn her if they're a no-go...

Thanks for your help! Though this is so sad...

While it's sad for your girlfriend, it's good for the capybaras. Disney is a nature preserve and since the animals are not threatened, that means that most of them are living free and Disney sees no need to preserve them. While at Animal Kingdom see The Flights of Wonder. No large rodents there but lots of good vibes.

Should you ever come to England, there's a small zoo in Yorkshire called the Yorkshire Wildlife Park that you should visit. They have an enclosure that you walk though and the Capybaras are free ranging. You basically walk among them. It's fun as they are so cute and make the funniest noises, like a guinea pig
