I am planning on asking my GF to marry me on our next disney trip. It is coming up fast. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about good places to do this? Also if anyone has done this and can give me some pointers or advice on the place to propose. I really apreciate your help!

All places in Disney World are romantic! Ok- maybe not all... :rotfl: The things that stick out from our honeymoon: Wishes- it is just magical!! The music, the castle, the fireworks.... And, on our last night there, we had dinner at Ohana's, then watched the fireworks at Magic Kingdom from the beach of the Poly. It was wonderful, and there weren't a lot of people out there. Also, at POR you can do a carriage ride, which is lovely. Whatever you decide, it's sure to be wonderful!

If you are willing to splurge for a night, the chef's table at Victoria and Albert's is the place to be. According to the general manager there, they average 2 engagements a night and in their years of operation, they have never had anyone say 'no' to a proposal at their chef's table.

Book WAY in advance for that, though. :)

Also, the Grand Floridian, Contemporary and I believe AKL and Polynesian offer a special balcony for 'room service', but the meal is entirely created especially for the guests. Again, booking way ahead of time is key with Disney engagements.

IF you are at the Grand Floridian, be sure to speak with dining services to have them bring the ring on the glass slipper plate. (This is a beautiful white chocolate slipper like that of Cinderella that has raspberry mousse inside, and they will place your ringbox next to it and remove the silver cover at the table). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

If you want to do it at the Living Seas for whatever reason, they can arrange for a diver to swim with a sign labeled "will you marry me" down to your table. The waiters and waitrsses will notify the rest of the restaurant secretly and when she says yes, everyone will stand and cheer.

CALL IN ADVANCE. TRUST ME. They can do anything, ANYTHING, you want for them, save maybe graffiti on the castle. But your wish is their command, as long as you give ample notice!

do you know if when i call i can tell them about the engagement? also..how would you talk to about graffiti on the castle??

LOL, I wouldn't mention graffiti on the castle. Might get you some nasty customer service. :rotfl: :confused3

Yes, when you call Disney dining (407-WDW-DINE) you can mention that you have an engagement and would like something special done. If all you want is the chocolate slipper or a cake or something like that, the dining representatives will be happy to take care of you.

If you want something more extravagant like a carriage ride, the balcony arrangements, or the diver at the Coral Reef, then mention it but they will probably transfer you to recreation and event planning.

The Disney representatives are very good at this. They handle a lot of engagements, and everyone wants to make theirs special. So don't be afraid to ask!

duckfan - While the ideas provided so far are good, if you are looking for a low cost option... read on.

There is a wishing well in the MK near Cinderella Castle. If you walk up Main St and go thru the castle and make the first right it is about 20-30 ahead on the right side of the walkway. I used it as follows recently when I re-proposed to my wife of 25 years. I offered her a coin and told her to close her eyes and make a wish. While she had her eyes closed, I got the ring out of my pocket and got on one knee. When she opened her eyes I gave my little spiel...

My husband proposed in front of the castle, in the midst of a million people. LOL I thought it was very romantic. Everyone around us started clapping afterwards.
He said he was carrying around the ring all day, and couldn't find the right place, he just decided to do it on the spur of the moment, right before we walked through the castle. I was wondering why he was going down on his knee at the time. LOL

There was just a special about Disney Weddings I can't remeber which channel it was on. They had some engagements there. CRT makes a big deal also. Depends if you want the expense or want private etc. Looked like most of the nicer places will bring the ring out on the dessert tray with the chocolate slipper etc. The Coral Reef with the divers sounds neat. There was a thread a few days ago that had neat ideas if you can do a search for it.

Last April we were sitting near the Partners statue on Main St waiting for Wishes to begin. Right after they made the "five minutes" announcement, a young man near us got down on one knee, took out a ring and proposed to his girlfriend.
Everyone applauded and all the little girls around us went crazy. The 12 yr old girl with us still talks about it and hopes she has a romantic boyfriend like that someday!
