I know it comes down to measurements and material choices, but just trying to get an idea. with installation. average sized kitchen, not looking for the most expensive just looking to get rid of the heinous green that is currently there.

You can cover whatever is there with ceramic tile squares. Plain tiles are very inexpensive and easy to install. If you hired someone to install the tile, maybe $100 for tiles and $4 a sf to install. Tile is easy to put down yourself though.
