We've been gone all morning and now I'm hopping on my computer hoping to see that some hint about the 60th celebration next year was announced today. I'm not seeing anything yet, though! Have I missed anything?

So far all I've seen is they are having a photo contest. I'd like to know what they plan to have in place in the parks by that time.
I'm waiting to hear that they are putting an Iron Man 4D experience to replace Captain EO. (The audience is attending the unveiling of a new Stark product when things go wrong and Iron Man must help. ;) )
I want to hear they are really going to buckle down and figure out how they can get the People Mover up and running again.

Have they announced anything besides the photo contest?

They had a mini birthday celebration today at 10am. I was over at DCA doing their very first California Story tour, so I missed the ceremony, and the announcement regarding the 60th. I did see the diamond logo. I think they can do better, and hope they rework it by next year.

I think "spring" means May. Speculation is there will be a 60-hour party starting on July 17. 2015. A return of the PeopleMover is a dream. It's not gonna happen. I'd imagine the Rocket Rods system is somewhat still on place. Even if they decided to do something like this, there's no way it would be ready by the anniversary. Disney's not gonna spend money to repurpose an attraction that's been gone for nearly 20 years. BTW, has Disney ever done this? Maybe Nemo. But that's about it.

Oh, I know it's a dream. But those are my birthday wishes. :goodvibes I want to hear they are going to do something big, and not just wash the pavement.
I'd also like to know somewhat soon if they are doing anything extra special on the 17th so I'll know if we should plan to be there on that day, or avoid it, if it sounds like it won't be worth fighting the crowds.

Traditionally, the major anniversaries (every 10 years) feature a fairly elaborate ceremony at the castle, free party favors, cake or cupcakes, and limited edition "day of" merchandise. I've been to the park on the 40th and the 50th, and this has been my experience.

Being in the park on July 17 is extra special. I was here yesterday, and even got to go inside Walt's Main St. apartment to see Town Square the way it may have looked to Walt on Disneyland's opening day.
