Hi there...

My Dell Inspiron 6000 is only two months old and the fan is very, very loud, all of the time. I use it all day (it is usually on from 7:00am until 8pm - I use it for work) and the fan is constantly running loud.

I've taken it off the desk and set it up so that the air passes underneath it, but it is still loud.

Trying to reach Dell by phone is like trying to find the Holy Grail. :lmao:

Any ideas? Is this normal?

Thanks!

Karen

When I bought my Dell Inspiron 700m, I also bought a Targus Notebook ChillHub. It not only cools the laptop so that the fan isn't running all the time, but it also adds 4 usb hubs to the computer. I bought it from Best Buy for about $50. They also have a cheaper model for $29, but it doesn't have the hub.

Here is the website for Targus. http://www.targus.com/us/accessories_workspace.asp

It looks like they have a bunch of other items to solve an over heating problem.

My Inspirons fan is loud too, but it doesn't run all the time and my laptop is never shut off. It just sits on the table, it kicks in every so often and then stops.
Had to add...I never have problems reaching them by phone. My last call was about my power cord not working anymore, they sent me a new one within 24 hours.

If running all the time, check your Processes running in the Task Manager, see if you have spyware running in the background.

I echo Nancy's thoughts on service.
