The title makes it pretty clear what this thread is going to be about, no one made you click on it.

So you own a musket then? Because that is what they were talking about back then when they wrote the Constitution.

Of course I knew what the thread was about, that's why I decided to voice my opinion.

As a matter of fact, I do. Few could argue that our Founding Fathers were not forward thinking men. I am confident that they knew there would be advances in weapons and other technology. Pistols were invented in the 1500s.

Even our own Supreme Court doesn't buy that argument. June 2008, it struck down the Washington DC ban on hand guns as un-Constitutional.

As for Disney and guns.... lots of Disney movies have guns in them, so guns and Disney go together quite well.

Retired Police Chief and I carry my .38 Targus. it is what I have been accustomed too, can handle in my sleep, and concealed.
I have other weapons from work, too large to carry, the other thing, I just do not want to worry about remembering the safe, and semi auto, etc.

Retraining myself to feel second nature comfort to a new weapon, I am not at all into.

My son on the other hand carries his semi auto all over when we travel.

For my detective work I carry a 9mm Glock from police days, BUT feel it is more comfort level, I am not going to take on jobs that I feel I need more power then the .38, if I need to use my Glock,I need to use my body armour too. as a grandma, I do not need that kind of assignment to take on.

ALSO< what ever you decide, just remember, it is not a threat to carry it, when it is pulled out USE it. So carry what you will use!
Secondly, the same weapon you pull out can be grabbed in an instant and will more then likely be used by the offender.

Shopping I stay in populated area's, well lite, and if it was for fear of an old bf, threatening person etc. USE the law for as much power too.

Thanks, but I don't plan on putting myself into any situations where I need to be "protected" by a gun.

I carry a Keltec 9mm as my concealed carry gun. My husband has a Bersa Thunder .380 that he carries concealed. I like them both. I used my hubby's .380 to qualify for my concealed carry permit. My advise is to go and handle some guns and get a feel for what feels comfortable in your hands. Then ask around.

This is the only place I've admitted this but my husband bought me a hammerless Ruger SP101 .357 magnum. I got my concealed weapon license but rarely do I carry it. This gun has more kick but I like it that it's powerful. I keep thinking that if God forbid I have to use it to defend myself, I want to wound the guy badly and not just ouch him so that I can get away without him having the strength to come after me after he's been shot.

I bet these people didn't think they were in a situation where they might need a weapon to protect themselves either.

Why did you have to get that from a Phillipines newspaper? This actually happened about 1 hour from my city, yes I am in Winnipeg.

So you are saying that if you would have had a gun you would have shot the guy? What if you would have missed and shot an innocent child? Besides, according to greyhound.com all firearms are not permitted on the bus, they must be checked. So, a gun wouldn't even be on board the bus to be used.

LOL! If you could shoot my gun, you would be just as enamored with it as I am. It was worked over by Wilson Combat. They installed a Barstow competition barrel, night sights and tweaked the trigger, among other things. I knew the moment I pulled the trigger, I had to have this gun. 2.5 pound trigger so smooth it will make your mouth water.

Lord, now I am gonna be known as the crazy gun lady. I suppose that is better than the crazy cat lady. LOL

Oooooo....I like it, I like it...DW won't touch my 1911, but she thoroughly enjoys the Beretta 92 she picked out herself..."Oh honey look, it's Italian!!"--**DH Rolls eyes and walks away muttering to self--:lmao:** Actually it's a nice gun, and she shoots it very well, so who am I to judge?

I think there's nothing wrong with being the crazy gun lady. At least people know not to mess with you

Nothing wrong with it at all....my wife knows how to safely operate and use every gun in my armory (I'm in Law Enforcement). They all got locked and secured in an electronic controlled safe when my sone was born, but I insisted she know how to at least operate each and every one of them--and some of them she REALLY hates...:rotfl2:

I've decided on the S & W Bodyguard and my mom just got the LCP Ruger. I liked the Ruger but found the S & W fit my hand better than the Ruger did. There's very little recoil on either one of them. The S & W has an integrated laser. My mom had a handgrip laser put on the Ruger. The S & W was $425 and the Ruger with the laser was $479 ($329 w/out) so the price is pretty comparable. Both guns are very easy to carry concealed.

I have been kicking around the Bodyguard from DW..how does it shoot?

Did you get the .38 LCP or the .380?

What could more appropriate? Protecting family and loved ones is a priority.

My wife has a Walther PPK (.380) She can handle it with no worries. About the Only handgun she feels comfortable firing for some reason.

I carry a Glock 23 .40cal.

In the house we have a winchester 870 pump.

Agreed.

That's right, because people intent on doing harm ALWAYS follow the rules....

Last time I worked with RCMP and OPP they all had guns....hmmmmmm...

I've thought about the .380. The class that I am taking actually supplies the guns or you can take your own. I think he said they have 22 Magnums, 38's & 9mm. I may take my 38 but try the types that they have too. I used to enjoy going target practicing with my Dad but it has been several years ago. He had an extensive collection that inculded a musket fro the civil war. He was really more into rifles & shotguns but had a couple of handguns. He had one of the old 22 caliber that had the look of the ones that they used in the old Westerns. The ammo for it was cheap so we used to use it for target practice a lot. I know they have different calibers for you to try at the class. They have the class every month but I was waiting until it got under 90 degress around here because it is a 8 hr class outside.

Quick Correction...In my above post I stated a "Winchester 870" I obviously wanted to type Remington. Sorry about that.

My Dove Shotgun is a Winchester 1400 semi-auto 20 gauge. Not our home protection weapon.

Remember the best caliber/gun is the one you will carry. I carry everything from a .32 to .45 depending on what I am wearing that day. It's better to have a .32 in your pocket than a .45 still at home.

I like this! When I had my permit before, I always carried my 38. I was thinking about the airweight 38 or a .380 for the smaller size. The purse gets heavy after a while

I have always been taught that you only pull your gun if you are willing to use it & it should a "you or them" situation. I was taught from a young age about the respect for guns. I carry pepper spray as well.
As for the assignments, I have a feeling you could handle any of them

My personal favorite is a Springfield XD-40 subcompact. Excellent weight and I can hit most anything with it. Fits great in my hand. Small enough to tuck away, but do some damage if needed. If you can get your hands on one to try, I highly recommend it.

In Texas it's illegal to not carry. So I strapped a bazooka to the truck and carry a M16 slung across my back. :teeth:

Seriously I have been salivating over the Ruger LCP. Although finding .380 ammo is a pain sometimes.

I love my Taurus TT .357M with a 2inch ported barrel. Light, 7 rnds and can stop a freight train. I've always held that revolvers are a LOT more reliable.

Did you get the .38 LCP or the .380?
I really like the Bodyguard (I got the .380). I'm a real beginner and I've found its very easy for me to handle and I'm pretty accurate with it (of course I love the "little red dot"). If you go to YouTube there are some pretty good videos of people shooting it. I found for me it does very well close range (which I what I would need it for).

My mom got the .380 LCP. I fired it after she got it and had pretty much decided to get one of my own until we went to a gun show and I was able to handle the S&W. I found the S&W just "felt" much more comfortable in my hand to me. My dad, who's the gun expert in our family, told me to get the S&W if I liked the feel of it better. For the amount and type of shooting either my mom or I would do either gun would be fine, in his opinion, and he said it more important for me to get the gun I felt more comfortable with.

I have the XD-M sub in 9mm. Absolutely love it.

Because I don't think guns and Disney go together. I'm not getting into any kind of debate about this at all though. I'm Canadian and I guess I see things differently.

Please don't drag being Canadian into this, your nationality has nothing to do with voicing your opinion where it adds nothing to the question that was asked. You stated you don't think this is the right place for this conversation, obviously the mods of this board disagree.

Remember, if you're going to put the myth out there that Canadians don't like guns you should also go along with the myth that we're overly polite by apologizing for ruining a perfectly good conversation.
