I for one have not been around long enough to have heard all the rumors and thoughts around future DVC. Looks like some of the "dreams" are coming true [GVC & Hawaii]. Have there been any suggestions as to where a Caribbean DVC would be?

Thanks
Diane

I have never heard of any myself

The caribbean is huge but I would say one of the most popular is probably the Bahamas

so if I had to choose thats what I would say

I'm hoping for Cancun, MX or Punta Cana because both have good air availability from Baltimore!

I would expect Mexico. I have a heard a great deal about how many members try to swap to Mexico so that is my guess.

I hope Mexico. However, I would take anywhere in the caribbean. Turks & Caicos would be extremely nice.

I would think that if its a US territory, then it would be somewhere within the Virgin Islands. :)

I was thinking Bahamas because they could do day trips over to Castaway Cay. What a selling point!

Ditto! :thumbsup2 They could do so much tie-in with DCL this way. I hope not Nassau, though! Yuck! If they need to go somewhere super popular, I would hope for the Caymans. If they can go a bit more out of the way, the Turks and Caicos would be a good choice.

I say it will not be in Mexico for many reasons. (1) The reason so many DVCers trade to MX is because it is what is available. As anyone with direct access to II will tell you, there is ALWAYS availability in Mexico. (2) They just announced 2 west coast DVCs...I can't imagine them doing a third one until things are very well-established on the half of the country. Personally, I hope not to Cancun...it has, unfrotunatey, gotten gross. Though yes, airfare to there is far more afordable than to other parts of Mexico (which is probably why it has gotten so gross....).

I would like to see something a little further south than Bahamas. We were going to take the kids there in Jan. but 3 different travel agents talked us out of it because the water temp could be pretty chilly that time of year. St. John would be nice, Turks & Caicos as well - could compete with Beaches. I would love to see a DVC somewhere in the Caribbean, that would be much easier for us than Hawaii.

DVC, are you listening???:listen:

I would also like to see something further south than the Bahamas. I like St. John/St. Thomas, something in the Virgin Islands.

Bobbi:goodvibes

I would hope for the Virgin Islands, mostly St Thomas. Not Mexico, please!

I don't think it'll be St Thomas. Too built up already. I'd guess one of the Bahamas out islands. Long Island, Andros, Maybe Exuma. Actually now that I think about it Exuma is more likely because it has a bigger airport. Turks and Caicos is doubtful. Provo has a good size airport and enough land but these islands are known for sharks.

The Bahamas is very investor friendly, so this could be a very likely location. Plus Cast away cay is in the Bahamas. Its close to the main land, airfare is reasonable. The Bahamas has a very successful tourist business and infastructure in place. Atlantis is called Disney in the Bahamas, so why not take on that challenge.

The Virgin Islands is unlikely. St John is pretty much off limits since most of the island is protected. The other two islands are very limited in available, desirable property. Crime is a hugh deterent on both St Thomas and St Croix.

Turks and Caicos would be nice, but not sure how receptive the islands are to new developement. Plus risk from huricanes is very small on this island.

St Lucia would be a great location, in my opinion. Westin is building a new resort there that is going to be a wow.

Mexico, maybe....tough place to do business. Dominica Republic is a maybe, there has been a lot of new developement there, but doesn't seem to be a disnaey place. Jamaica ... No.

Puerto Rico, which like the Virgin Islands, is a US territory and unlikely place for a Disney Resort.

I really think that Bahamas is the most likely place for a Disney Resort and timeshare. It has everything going for it. Its the least "third world" location that is close enough, affordable and capable of supporting a Disney resort.

My vote would be for Anguilla. It is not very developed, has IMHO the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and the distinct advantage of only being 15 minutes by ferry from St. Maarten and it's beautiful new International Airport.

Come to think of it, now that the Mullet Bay Resort issues have been settled in St Maarten, and with it's existing Golf Course and access to Maho, that would also be a great location for a DVC.

I can not see DVC building a resort on an island that is not very developed. That would be a deterent for a lot of DVC guests who are used to having everything at their fingertips. My family included.
As far as St. Maartan, I really hope DVC does not choose that Caribbean island. I love the Caribbean islands but St. Maartan's is our least favorite by far. We do like their outdoor flea market though. LOL!
