Any guess at 7-month availability?

Hi all

Bought AKL last year, 300 points December - had our first stay in April, and booked Kidani again for October this year staying 13 nights from October 23rd to November 5th.

Whilst we liked the resort and would be happy staying there we are more than open to transferring our booking to another resort at the 7 month window - does anyone have an idea / educated guess on what (if any) may still be available when it comes to the 7 month window?

I think your best shot at moving is BLT lakeview. Even then it may require doing a split stay.

If you’re OK doing a split stay, a good plan may be taking whatever long stretch find elsewhere, keep the other half where you are now, and then waitlist that piece if you still prefer doing the whole trip without moving. At least you’d have the split stay as back up.

Poly Longhouses might have a very good shot as well. You never know though, it’s possible anything pops up. With your long date range you have more chance to match a decent opening elsewhere (if accepting split stay).

In the past, typically the best chance for rooms at 7 months has probably been AKL, OKW, and SS. Different times of the year will have different availabilities, but those are likely your best bet, especially if you're trying to move the entire stay to a new resort at 7 months. With a nearly 2-week stay, we'd look to split the stay in half - half at AKL, and then 6-7 nights at another resort. Since you're going around Halloween, it might be a popular time and a tougher time to rebook, but you never know!

One suggestion: if you hope for a split stay, book your home resort at 11 months but split it the way you’d like your visit to be. For instance, if you want 6 nights in one resort and 7 nights in another, book two separate reservations at your home. You can’t split a reservation once it’s booked.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I like the suggestion of splitting it into separate 6 and 7 night reservations.

Can I ask - if I do that and nothing is available at the 7 month mark, can I re-combine the 2 bookings into a single reservation again?

Yes. The easiest way to do that is Chat on the DVC site and ask them to ‘Merge’ the reservations.
