I will be having a car so I don't know if its best to just find a grocery store or get delivery with Disney. What do you all think? Is it close to the resort?

Goodings is expensive, but just off property. It is at the end of Hotel Plaza Blvd on 535. There is a WalMart Superstore and a Publix (my favorite) a couple of miles further off property on Vineland Road.

There is also a Winn Dixie on Apopka-Vineland. It is maybe a 10 minute drive from SSR. It is my favorite, very clean and not too pricey and close by.

I am planning to ship a box with dry goods to the resort and then buy perishables (ie Milk) at the resort store. Just a thought for you as you figure out what to do.

Have a good evening.

We just got back last week & DH & I took a cab to Winn Dixie. It was only $20 round trip and didn't take very long at all. I know a lot of people prefer the delivery services such as wegoshop & garden grocer, but I like going & seeing what I can buy. For example they had a section of cooked items & I bought some chicken nuggets for the kids & they ended up being a bit hit. If I ordered groceries, I never would've considered them. I also like being able to see what choices I have for flavored beer or wine, because I like to have a few different choices. They also had some souvenier items & that are much less expensive that WDW.

If you are going to Winn Dixie, dont forget to get the values card. Not sure what they call it. You can apply online and have it shipped to your house or you can register when you get to the store.

If you are going to Winn Dixie from SSR, there is a shortcut that I learned from these boards. When you turn right out of the SSR gate onto Vacation Club Way... you take that to the T in the road and instead of going right and then left past all the hotels to get to 535.... you turn left at that T. Follow it around as it snakes back to the right. When you get to another T, turn right. You will be on 535 headed east at this point. It does a little wind and then when you get to the next intersection, this is Vineland. Turn left and Winn Dixie will be down about 2 blocks or so on your right hand side. There is also a liquor store in the same area.

We like Winn-Dixie as well. Close, clean good prices.

We used garden grocer and had it delivered last time. It worked out well.

While you can get there that way, it is a longer route. It is definitely not a shortcut. See the two maps below. The start on the maps is located at the middle of SSR near the pool area.

Route1: Exit SSR at the exit near DD, turn right, turn left on Hotel Plaza Blvd, turn left on 535. Go straight, Winn-Dixie on the right. Total 2.25 mile

Route 2: As posted in quote. 3.98 mile. Unless you look at it on a map, you don't realize how far you actually go out of the way.

Is the alternate route less traffic?

I know there are times that Crossroad intersection really frustrates me! I'm used to country roads at home and waiting at a traffic light can set me off...

I guess I never realized how far it was out of the way. From my experience, it has been a ton less traffic. Maybe that is why I thought it was shorter.

Great maps...
