We are thinking of going to Disney World in March 2005. I really don't want to go before this because I really want It's a Small World to be open when we go. My children have spring break then as do lots and lots of other schools. I am looking to go at a less crowded time and want to avoid spring break crowds if possible. I am totally willing to take the kids out of school to do this. So I'm wondering, is there any time in March that we will be able to avoid the spring break crowds or will the whole month be pretty much that type of crowd. Does the same go for April too or would that be better as far as being less crowded? What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

The earlier you go in March, the more likely there will be less spring breakers. We were there the first week of March 2003, and the crowds were not bad at all. It was great. We'll be there next year at the very end of Feb and early Mar. I am hoping IASW will be done ahead of schedule and will reopen for our trip! They've reopened things earlier than expected before, so there is a chance for this!!!! FINGERS CROSSED!!!! :)

That sounds good to go earlier in March. I just hope IASW will be open early in March. It's the memory that stands out most in my mind from when I went to Disney as a 6 year old. And when I went there in 2002 with my own children, I had tears in my eyes just remembering IASW from when I was a child and now I was enjoying it with my own children. So I definitely want it to be open when I go again. I want to FEEL those emotions again.

Also, we went the end of January 2002 before and the weather was awesome. We came from Michigan cold weather to 70-80 degree weather most of our trip. I understand that 80 degree temps are not usual for that time of year. So anyway, I'm thinking early March will be nicer temps than the temps in April. By that, I mean I don't want it to be too hot! I prefer 65-75 degrees actually.

The weather last year was AWESOME. We had a few times where we put sweatshirts on the kids, but mostly it was shorts and tshirts all week. It was my favorite kind of weather, right around 80 degrees!! But the weather is so unpredictable so who knows how next March will be...

Look to see when Easter falls, as this will effect a lot of things, including school spring breaks. I don't actually have a 2005 calendar, but I thought Easter was going to be very early again???

Anyhow this year we were at WDW 3/9-3/16. The first 3 days were great. Crowds were easy enough to manage. Average wait times for most things was in the 15-25 minute range. After the 3rd day-- the crowds seem to grow by 5x's!!! It got very, very busy. To the point MK was open until 11pm, FP's were gone by noon, standby times were at the 90+ min mark!!

Check when Easter is, then plan accordingly. If Easter is really early, then I think all of March is going to be busy. If it's at least 2nd week of April or later, then try to go the first week of March.
