My 12 year old is asking for a lego set this year. But he is at the age where he wants the complicated 100$+ sets. Any deal would be a huge help.

Thanks!

Meijers has 20% off Legos on either Thanksgiving or Black Friday, I don't remember which. If you have them in your area that might be the best you find. It seems like a lot of coupons and deals are excluding them this year.

You might also watch the Lego Store online for their Cyber Monday offer. In the past they've had percent-off offers (20 to 50%) on some of the bigger sets along with a reduced free shipping threshold.

I used the 15% off coupon at Toys R Us last week, they sent out another one today. It's for regular priced items though and I noticed the really big $100+ sets are marked down $5-&7, so you can't use it one them. You might get lucky though.

Toys R Us deals are generally bad. They price everything above MSRP so even when you get that $15 coupon you're still paying about regular price.

Amazon has many sets discounted. If you are in a no-tax zone for Amazon this would be good for you.

If you want to go with the LEGO site, that's good too. If you get their magazine, you'll get a 10% off one set coupon around the holidays. Besides that, they just ran double points yesterday (which amounts to 10% back vs 5% back) and a free bonus set and free shipping over $100. They'll run similar deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Do it all w Mr.Rebates and get another 4% or 6% back based on what they've got going that day. The LEGO magazine also comes with plenty of kid-free admissions to the LL Discovery Centers and Theme Parks. We use them on every Disney trip!

While that's been true in the past I haven't found that to be the case this year. Prices have been the same across the board for Target, Walmart, TRU and Amazon for Legos. They are all right next to each other in my area though and have been directed to not only match the other store but Amazon prices as well so that may be why.

My twins birthday is Nov 30th so I tend to know all the hot item prices like the back of my hand this time of year. I generally skip TRU unless they have something I can't get anywhere else. I have been pleasantly surprised by their prices this year. They had the flying Baymax for $29 last week when everyone else had it for $38.

Maybe they're getting better but I ran 4 at random of varying themes...

Bike Shop... Amazon $79. Walmart $85. TRU $90.
Cargo Train... Amazon $175. Walmart $175. TRU $200.
Beach House... Amazon $30. Walmart $30. TRU $40.
Fairground Mixer... $150 at each, the first one TRU is competitive on.

I would challenge you to show me a few LEGO sets that TRU has cheaper than Walmart, Amazon and Target. Even Target w the red card 5% and prescription club 5% is 9.75% off. That's hard to beat. TRU will match a price but they wont match a Target prescription club discount.

I didn't say better, I said same across the board. When I used the coupon for 15% off it was better. I'm buying Lego Friends, so maybe that's the difference? Like I said my TRU's are literally next door to Targets with Walmart across the street, all will price match Amazon.

Amazon Jungle Rescue Base $58

Walmart $58.96

Target $58.99

Toys R Us $59.99

Heartlake Mall
Toys R Us $109.99

Amazon $99.44 on sale from $109.99 However when I was in TRU yesterday it was on sale for $99 and when I cross checked with Amazon, they were to the penny the same.
Both Target and Walmart are $104.99, so yeah $5 cheaper. You do have to pay attention for sure.

Still, 15% off is $16.50 which makes it $93.50 at TRU. 5% off at Target equals $99.75. So TRU is/was the better deal.

eta: 10% off $105 would be $94.50 using Target RedCard/Pharmacy

I am assuming he is older and wants specific Lego brand ones, but in this helps there is a brand out there called brictek that is completely compatible with Lego brand. They look identical to the lego bricks(though the people do look different). They are so much cheaper than Lego brand. Amazon sells them and there are some other online retailers. We stumbled across these at a Childrens Museum and the lady who worked there raved about them so we gave them a try. HTH:goodvibes

20% off on this site right now:

Thank you for WalMart post! We are starting a Lego club at my DS's school and tried to get them on BF and missed out. So now we'll have plenty of Lego for the club!

Thanks! Have been looking for this deal, it showed out of stock before. Keeping my fingers crossed it ships :)

20% off all Legos at Boscov's today. I'm not sure how big of a chain they are or if it is online. But we picked up a bunch of sets this morning that we hadn't found on sale yet.

I ended up getting dd Lego mall from yoyo.com for 75.00 and it is 109.00 at TRU.
