Hi this is our first trip to Disneyland. We have been to Disney World many many times. We always stay on-site in FL,but there isn't much benefit for staying on-site at DL. Has anyone found any good hotel deals for the end July at the good neighbor hotels. Any other advice would be appreciated!!

Don't limit yourself to good neighbor hotels. That is a term which refers to hotels that Disney partners with. It doesn't mean special rate and often higher rates than going strait through the hotel itself. Look at Harbor drive and you can find places that are a short walk to the gates.

Weekends are busier than weekdays at DL. Many places offer stay 3 deals. Also Disney often offers ticket deals for 3 day long PHs.

I would also be interested in hearing about any hotels on Sth Harbor with good deals as we have a trip coming up this July. Does anyone normally go in July and if so, where do you stay?

TIA :goodvibes

If this is your first time then you should do it right and stay onsite. GC or DLH are preferred. I would rather walk through Downtown Disney anyday rather than walking down the busy Harbor Blvd and messing with all that chaos. Just my personal opinion. If you do stay offsite then Hojo or Fairfield Inn are recommended by me. You can always sign up for their email club and they will send you deals via email.

We stay at HoJo's. If you get an Enterntainment book and book on their Entertainment Book dates you get spectacular rates. Last time I paid $59 a night. They're an easy walk from the front gate.

Check them out on Facebook...the gals there will give you all the info you need!

We are going this July and plan to stay at Candy Cane Inn for our third time. You can see my review with pictures in my sig. We love the close walk and the free breakfast. It is right next to DCA so all you do is walk past the park and into the gates. Takes us about 7 min. There is one street to cross which is an entrance for buses into the park. I thought I heard they were closing that though, but I don't know. They always had a CM standing there like a crossing guard. On the other side of CCI there are two stores handy for little things you may need.

Wow what month did you go when you got the $59 rate? We just booked the HoJo for $103 a night with the Entertainment book.

What benefits are you looking for that are more important at WDW that are not at DLR?

Did you call in-house reservations directly to get this rate as their website currently has a rate of $131 per night for July?

Reasons I stay on site at WDW are:
*Magical Express
*More hotels to choose from
*I have stayed at a value for $52 a night
*We can get free dinning. Which we really enjoy because everyone in our family can get what they want; without worrying about cost.
*The buses and transportation systems are more useful in WDW because everything is spread. In DL you can walk from your hotel Disney owned or not.

Yes I called, that is a requirement to get the entertainment book rate. You can not book it online. It is the Entertainment Direct to Hotel program. The phone number is listed in the book.

I have gotten the entertainment rate by booking online--you just need to plug in the coupon code SD50. These rates wouldn't be available for this summer yet, though. These rates come up closer to travel times, and are presented by Hojos Anaheim on a day by day basis--depending on how many rooms they have sold. Here is the board where the dates are posted:

http://hojoanaheim.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14&p=14#p14

As you can see, there are no dates up past the ones in March. Summer dates won't start appearing until around April or so. You can buy an entertainment book on ebay for about 5.00.

The typical entertainment rate is 59.00 for a standard room, and 79.00 for a Disney facing double queen room. It isn't as if you can get these rates anytime you want--they have to be offered and in the busy summer months you won't see a lot of them. You can still stay there and get a good deal from their regular rates. There are many coupon codes you can plug in to the website to get a discount (although not as big as the entertainment rate). Here are two codes:

LKMC
