I've seen lots of pics of toddler boys getting their first haircut at the Mainstreet Barber Shop, but just curious if older girls have. My DD will be four on our next trip and has very long, curly hair that has not been cut yet. I thought it would be cute...more for the experience to do it while we are there. Any experience?

My friends had their daughter get her first haircut there. She was closer to 2 when she got her hair cut.

My DD was 2 when she got her first haircut there. It really is just a little trim than a hairstyle. So more ceremonious if anything. I don't think they would have an issue cutting her hair. Just know it will be more of a little trim. They also do't wash hair beforehand. They spritz it with a water bottle.

Thanks...that's exactly what I was hoping for.

We did this last year...my dd was 5. It was cute and she got the "my first hair cut" ears and they saved some of her hair for me. She just got a trim and we only really did it for the experience. The cost was around $18 before tip and the place was pretty empty. We had an appointment, but I think most would be okay going without one...we were the only ones in there -appointment was around 3.

My DD had her first hair cut there last month. She is 2 and her hair was almost to the middle of her back. They trimmed it up a little bit. Then pulled it up into pig-tails and added some glitter. Super cute! We made appointments for 4 o'clock and they were running about 15 minutes behind when we got there. But we just went into the shops for a few minutes to wait our turn. Over all good experience and definitely worth it! :thumbsup2

Our granddaughter , then 9months had her back and bangs trimmed... First haircut... And she enjoyed the Harmony Barber Shop...

Now her sister comes in the picture, 1 years old and first one is now 3.... Daddy said that she has to have her first haircut done in Disney too.... Looks like a trip to WDW is in the bear future !

BEAR FUTURE! Oh no, how horrible! :worried::scared1: LOL

Jokes aside this is a cute idea. Our twin daughters will be turning two on our trip and will be ripe for their first hair cut.

Yes, we got DD haircut there the day before her 2nd birthday, so it was more of a trim. But it evened all her hair out and they were actually able to put her hair in a little pony tail (and DD left it in!! first time!), which was the start of her letting me put things in her hair. I'd have paid for that alone! :lmao: She cried a little at first, but they gave her stuff to play with and then they gave her the ears and certificate. It was so cute!

I couldn't get a reservation there for the life of me, but we walked up and were taken within 5 minutes.

DD had her first haircut there when she was 2 years old (plus four months or so). They gave her a trim then pulled her hair back and sprinkled it with pixie dust. Even though the cut itself wasn't much, it was the first time she'd ever had her hair pulled back on top of her head and she looked so much older (in a good way) that I cried. Of course, everything makes me cry so ymmv. ;)

I've seen pics of an older boy getting 1st hair cut at the barber shop. He was like 5 yrs old getting ready to start Kindergarten. Had long thick wavy hair to his behind it was so pretty, such a shame to cut pretty hair like that!

He was a very nice looking boy after the cut with a nice typical boys cut...I still say it was a shame to cut his hair tho.

we took dgd7 to get her first hair cut there when she was 4. she had really long curly hair. they took a good bit off but it was still longish. was a great memory and she loves that she got her first one there. you'll want to take lots of pictures!

DD was 18mo but had long curly hair so we did it. They put about 20 stickers on her and then as she sat peeling them off they trimmed up her hair. They suggested we do not get the glitter because it would get all over the place but she did get all the first haircut goodies and it was a great experience. We still have the hat they gave her.

DD #3 was just shy of 3 when she had her first cut her hair was (is) long stck straight blonde, anyway the Dapper Dans happened to come in when she was in the chair, so she watched them and played with the stickers. The used some light pink (bubble gum pink) gel and pulled part of her hair back and added glitter. Well worth it! We also had our middle DD's hair cut there but she had short hair she was a cue ball until she was almost 3.

DD got her first haircut at the Barber Shop when she was 5 1/2. She had 12+ inches cut off, and we donated it to Locks of Love. They did a great job packaging and delivering her locks for us. DS had his first haircut at the same time, but he was a mere 15 months old. Micheal did both haircuts and made the experience memorable for both kids. There were Mickey's "first haircut" ears and lots of bubbles and stickers for both kids. Micheal also saved a curl from each kid and wrapped it up for their baby books. DS got the Mickey ear gel and lots of Mickey heads, and DD opted for lots of glitter. It was a fantastic experience and well worth the wait (no reservations taken at this time).

Can you do that through Disney, or did you have to take her hair with you?

Never mind: I typed before I read the entire post!
