Any gift card discount clubs out there like Hotwire?

They still offer the $25 GC for $20?? I just got an offer for $19.95 for a year but I thought they were only offering 5% off so I wasn't thrilled with the offer. Maybe I will have to take a second look at it. Do they offer gc for department stores as well as restaurants?

I buy a card for $ 25 and then get $ 5 back as a credit on my credit card. I only got the $ 19.95 deal when I called to cancel. It wasn't something they advertised. I'm not sure about department stores - I haven't paid that much attention - I think Pennys may be there. I think the stores are listed on the websites. I like the Target ones the best.

Is the program you order GC's from called Saving Smart on Dealpass.com? I knew I had read about a $19.95/ year fee. Now, I'm all confused. :crazy: What's the $150 membership for? For $19.95 it would be a great deal! For $150, not so much. :o

it looks like i need tell them that i'm gonna cancel. they are automatically renewing my membership and getting lots of $$$ out of me. even though i'm getting 20% off the gift cards, why should i pay over $100 when i could pay $19.95?

thanks for the tip!

I'm also wondering if "SavingSmart" is the card program. If so, can anyone paste a list of the different cards they offer.

Thanks!!

Are there any more that plans have Target or Home Depot? I really want to get the $25 gift certificate for $20 .. the AAA does not give me enough of a discount ($2.50)for it to be worth it, especially that i dont belong to AAA...there used to be so many that offered this kind of deal....anyone else know of some? thanks

I went to the Dealpass website and they are offering a 1 year membership for $19.95. It looks like it is through smartsaving(?) I didn't see dealpass, smartsaving, or passport to fun listed on SR.

I Start using passport to fun. Is similar to hotwire, you buy a gift card and get 20% off at the end of the month in your credit card.
They have Target, Sears, Kmart among other national stores. They also have restaurants and theme parks tickets INCLUDING DISNEY magic your way with park hopper and the waterparks option included. Example: An adult 7 day adult ticket with hopper and the water parks option, expire in 14 days is 279.11. The cheapest I have seen.

I don't think any of the programs are as good as Hotwire used to be, unfortunately.

The Hotwire Savings Club was run by Dealpass. So yes, these clubs are still around, just with new names.

You can join most of the Dealpass clubs on a monthly basis, too, for about $20 a month. So once you buy more than 4 gift cards (saving $5 each) your monthly fee is covered by your savings.

But you can't just go to Dealpass.com and sign up. You have to *find* a Dealpass offer link and click it: kind of like an 'invitation'.

I recently joined "Passport to Fun" through participating in an incentive program that was emailed to me in one of Sunshine Reward's emails from the end of July. I think it was called Hotgiftzone.

Anyway, while clicking through the 'offers' you have to do, I saw several of these Dealpass sites that you could join for 7 days for $1 and then stay for $19.99 a month:
* Passport to Fun
* Today's Escapes
* Shopping Essentials

You buy the $25 cards for $25 each. And then NEXT MONTH (around the 15th) they credit you $5 for each $25 card. You have to still be a member on the "crediting day" in order to get your $5-per-card refund. (So if you sign up on Aug 13th and quit on Sep 13th to avoid paying for another month, you'll miss getting your refund on Sept 15th. Does that make sense??)

So it's pretty hard to get your refund while doing JUST the 7-day trial. But $20 is a small price to pay (for 1 month's membership) if you're going to buy quite a few gift cards.

They do have a limit of 5 cards per store per month (=$125 worth).

Like another poster said above, after one month I called their automated phone line to cancel my account. When I got to the part about cancelling and pressed that button, a recording came on offering me a 1 YEAR membership for just the same $19.95 I was already paying. For about $1.60 a month, I decided that was a bargain. :sunny:

One thing I like about getting these gift cards: you can COMBINE them with a coupon. So if you have a 10% off coupon at Target or somewhere, you get your full 10% then you basically save another 20%, since that's the savings built into the cards.

However, some of these stores will NOT let you use their own gift cards on their websites.

I know these WON'T: Staples, Sears, Kmart, Toysrus.

Here are some I believe you CAN use them online:
Penneys, Target, & Amazon.com. Not sure about the others.

If you usually shop through a rewards site (Sunshine, QuickRewards, Creationsrewards, Mypoints, etc) you will NOT get any kind of shopping credit with them if you pay using a gift card. But I find saving 20% better than what most sites offer anyway.

Hope this helps. :wave:

One thing that bugs me about Barnes & Noble is they will only allow the use of 1 gift card per online order. So, don't buy a bunch for them thinking you can get a large order completed with the discount cards.

VERY HELPFUL! I loved Hotwire for Target gift cards and movie passes and now would love to find a Dealpass link (as others have posted, when I went to their website, it just mentioned 5% off, which wouldn't be cost effective for me).

That's a bummer. :guilty: I don't sign up for offers to earn rewards points. I'm not good about cancelling, so I don't even visit those sites. Personally, I find them too much trouble for me. I would love to be able to sign up for one of these programs though. I loved Hotwire!

You actually don't have to participate in ALL the offers on one of these sites. If you have a *junk* email address handy, just go to Hotgiftzone.com and enter it. Then when you get to the silver & gold & platinum offers, find the Dealpass one you want to join, click on it and just do that ONE trial.

You will then be a bona fide member of that Dealpass club, regardless of whether you ever come back and complete any other offer on the Hotgiftzone offer pages.

Just a thought...

If you are interested in passport to fun for the 20 % discount on gift cards this is you have to do.
Visit www.cheapskateshopping.com and scroll down where it say Best free trials for free money and click on the link free 25 gas card. Thats the link for passport to fun with a free 25 gas card. NOTE: The 25 free gas card IS NOT automatic. They send you a survey and you will get the card AFTER you return the survey. As always, read all the terms and conditions before you decide if its good for you. You can cancel at any time. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know of any savings programs that offer Home Depot or Lowes cards with the rebate? We used to belong to Mainstreet123 and I believe they had Home Depot cards. Unfortunately, I can't find a link to rejoin, or I would do so. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks so much for the "cheat sheets". :teeth: I'm so excited to be able to join a "Hotwire" type program again. I took full advantage of that membership. Now, I just have to decide which program I prefer. :scratchin
