I have most of his CDs, but for some reason never picked up "Double Live." Just brought it home from the library and it is so fantastic. Brings back great memories of some of the best live performances I've ever seen. I just love when the audience out-sings him and he just goes crazy. Love all the "extra" verses. He was, if nothing else, one the greatest show-men ever. Man, they don't make em like that anymore do they? I MISS HIM! Anybody have any speculation or news as to when/if we'll ever see him on stage again? How impossible do you think it will be to get tickets for that? Anybody ever camp out for his tickets? I think at one time, my friend camped out for something like 2 days.

I did see him on a talk show recently...was it Oprah.... and he's starting to age, I think. Chunking up just a little (but aren't we all  )

So how's that for a Garth random rant? Just because I felt like it! Anybody else want to add?

I miss him too - country has changed so much since he "left". Oh I bet he'll be back - he'll do some whirlwind tour like the Eagles and we'll be lining up in the streets for tickets!! I saw him once in Boston and once in Cincinatti - we were in town for business and he was playing that night, so we got tickets from scalpers for $70 a piece!! Pretty inexpensive for a scalper, but it was back in 1996. I have most of his CD's but I honestly don't listen to them too much anymore. Toby Keith has taken his place in my heart :) But, you bet I'd go see him again!

Here's another Garth fan! Boy do I miss him too! I must admit I enjoy Toby, but Toby's no GARTH!

I've seen him in concert once in Hamilton Ontario and twice in Buffalo just before he retired. That weekend was a highlight in my life!

I've always joked with my husband and family that they can count on me to be here unless Garth knocks on my door and needs me to have his baby...then I'm outta here! :rotfl2:

I do believe he'll be back...probably better than before...and until then all true Garth fans will patiently wait...

Have a great Garth day! :cool1:

I cut my teeth on Garth Brooks! I worked for four years in a local western wear store ("Where the Highway Ends and the WEST begins!") during high school and early college. This was mid- to late- 1990s, when country was BIG.

I went to a Garth concert once here in Louisville and it was the best $35 I ever spent. He played for two hours with his band (including Trisha Yearwood while he was still married to SANDY!!!) and then came back for another hour-long encore, just him and his guitar. Garth is my all-time favorite -- you can't beat the sincerity! I would hope that if he did a comeback tour, he'd keep the prices like they were then -- not do the $125+ Eagles/Aerosmith etc. prices.

I would DIE to go to another concert. I have all the CDs, have them iPodded ( "Every Now and Then" and "Ain't Goin' Down") and even dig the Christmas albums.

I LOVE Garth! DH and I's song is "The Dance". :cloud9: Living in Oklahoma, I've had the pleasure of seeing him in concert several times- the best being the one he did at my (and his) alma mater- Oklahoma State. He ripped off his shirt and had an OSU football jersey on underneath.
Lately though, I've seen him a couple of times at soccer games here in Tulsa. One of his daughter's plays against my niece and he's always at her games. He's very nice and approachable and always signs autographs. Cool guy!

:woohoo: :woohoo: Another Oklahoma fan here. Although I hear people see him around all the time I've never seen him or been to a concert. I'm hoping he'll do back to back concerts in Tulsa again sometime. He did that in July of 97 but I was super huge and couldn't go(had DS on 7-23). My OB was talking about being at one of his concerts during my C/S. :listen:

We paid $18 apiece for 3rd row center Garth tickets on his last tour. The man puts on THE best show I have ever seen (and I have seen alot!).

Garth was the only person on my "list of people I want to meet before I die" and I met him last May backstage at the ACMs in Vegas. He is the NICEST guy you would ever want to meet - so approachable and talkative.

My friend that was with me told him that she had tickets to see him in Bakersfield and he told her that he promised it would be a "very memorable" night! My friend texted me from that show to tell me that Garth had just proposed to Trisha.

Hey there fellow Poke! I was at this show (both nights), and he rocked Gallagher-Iba like no other. Having Chris LeDoux open for him wasn't such a bad thing either. :) Those were back in the days when he was still allowing his fan club members plus one guest backstage after the show. A good friend of mine had been a die-hard fan club member since day one, and she took me backstage to meet the man. I was on :cloud9: as a young 18 year old girl. Having that OSU jersey on was icing on the cake for the crowd, as I remember it. I still get a smile on my face when I see an interview with him and he's sporting his alma mater's logo...or speaking of his band, Stillwater.

You didn't by chance ever two-step to Friends in Low Places out at the Weed, did you? :teeth:

Back to the original topic...Garth will be back at some point. Performing seems to be in his blood, and I'm sure that the fans will be there when he comes to call. The ticket prices will probably kill us, though, as we look back on those $25 seats in Stillwater. :) It'll be worth every penny.

Another huge Garth fan here!

Best concert I've ever been to. That man puts on an amazing show! He's one of those singers that you like even if you hate country music! His version of American Pie with just him and his guitar still gives me goosebumps! Country hasn't been the same since he's retired. I think he'll be back!

Garth had some super fantastic songs and I love to hear them. I also hear from my brother, who is a huge Garth fan, that Garth puts on a great show. I hate to go out on a limb here... But I do not like to see him interviewed, why is he always like "Oh, I hope the fans will still like me.."? And I can't stand to see him crying or tearing up during interviews. Great songs though.

We went to his concert in Raleigh NC in 1998 & it was just like that here. :) It was Easter weekend & we were on our way to the ILs to tell them that we were expecting DS. That boy started listening to Garth way back then & still loves his singing. :) It was great hearing him & Trisha together. We rushed out & bought that album ASAP since they said that they were recording for it on that tour. GREAT memories! We had seat in the balcony behind the stage to the right & had a decent view of everything going on. I LOVED it when he climbed up a rope ladder so that he was at our eye level for one of the songs. :cloud9:

Every weekend in the early 90's! :teeth: I love that he met his first wife there when he was a bouncer.

My thoughts as well. I love the music....I have many CD's. He's a terrifc showman. His concerts are the best. But I've read a few too many articles and seen interviews where he puts his ex down...like she did so much wrong and continues to do so....what a bunch of bologna! He wasn't perfect either. He makes it seem that if she had been a better person he would have been on the right track sooner. I just do not like it when people blame their life's problems on others.

Anyone remember where they were when Sandy had her first baby? I do! I was fitting a guy for some Nacona deer tans in the back of the store when our local country DJ BROKE INTO a song to tell the audience that Taylor had been born. Youd've thought something SERIOUS had happened... :confused3

ETA: I admit it -- I have "Chris Gaines'" album. It's good!

Yet another Garth fan checking in! :teeth:

Now, living in Texas as I do, you'd think that I would LOVE country music, but I don't. Most of it I can't stand. When I was in sixth grade, I was up late one Friday night after a football game listening to the radio in my room. Now, it was set on a top forty/rock station and they started playing "Shameless". I went "OMG Isn't this a COUNTRY song? It doesn't SOUND like a country song!"

I almost immediately went out and bought "Ropin' the Wind" and fell in love. I've been a fan ever since.

Double Live is my favorite by far of all his albums and I'd have to say my favorite songs are "The Dance", "The Red Strokes", "Standing Outside the Fire" and "Good Ride, Cowboy". :)

*ETA--I have the Chris Gaines album too. And I love every track on it..esp the hip/hop one. :teeth:

I've never read anything where Garth has spoken badly about Sandy, if anything he always blames himself for not keeping the marriage together. IMHO He's been a real gentleman, even going as far as to ask her permission to marry Trisha. Where did you read his "comments" the Enquirer, Star?

Oh yeah, another Garth fan checking in ;) DH recently started putting all our CDs on his new Ipod and Garth leads everyone as far as songs go - 123, closest to him is Toby Keith with 103 and then Janet Jackson with 98.

We were probably on the dance floor together at some point. Thursday nights were our favorites, though DH preferred the Annex. How I ended up with him is a mystery. :teeth: Great memories....
