We have a group of 10 including 4 who are first time Disney visitors. We arrive early Sunday afternoon and after checking in we are trying to figure out a dining adventure that will get us into the Disney theme of things. We've considered Chef Mickeys and possibly Beaches & Cream but we are still undecided. I know we must decide soon because our trip is in early June and we may have PS to consider. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcomed. Our group includes 7 adults and 3 kiddos ages 7, 8 and 8. We are staying at POR! Thanks in advance!!

I suggest 'Ohana'a at the Poly. The food is great and games are very entertaining for the kids. Check and see if there are fireworks that night. If so you can view them from the poly beach (or the restaurant) and you can also see the Electric water pagent too.

We are also coming in June. We arrive Sunday and will do the Hoop Dee Do at 5. Then off to Epcot Illumintations for our VIP seating...then off to Beaches and Cream for a Kitchen Sink!!
Are we crazy or what?!?!?

Chances are slim to none that you would all be seated together at Beaches n Cream. You may have a couple of you seated at the counter, 3 more at a center table and the rest of you in a booth. Not what I would want for my first night especially with folks who have never been to the world before.

'Ohana, Whispering Canyon or Chef Mickey's may be what you're looking for.

My first thought was OHana also. The food is fabulous and the Polynesian is a wonderful resort to wander around after dinner. You can watch the Electrical Water Pagent from the beach, I think at 9pm.

Have a wonderful vacation!

Another vote for Ohana's!!!!:)
That is what we did in Oct. Arrived early afternoon, checked in, swam for while.
Then we had PS at 7:30 and the fireworks were scheduled at 8!!
It was awesome!!
When we were done eating, by like 8:45, we walked out to the beach to watch the water pageant!!
That was definitely the way to start a great Disney vacation!!!!:)

We have dined at Chef Mickey's the first night of our WDW stay a a couple of times, last trip we went to Chef Mickey's later in the week and did Ohana on our first night. I can highly recommend both for a great way to start your trip. If you're not planning on doing the parks at all on the first day and you are rested from travel I think I'd go with Chef Mickey's. Who better than Mickey, Minnie, and friends to get you all in a Disney mood?. Ohana is a little more laid back so if you think you'll be tired from travel that may be the best choice. I'd highly recommend visiting both at some time during your stay. Have fun!

Thanks for all the wonderful comments. It truly helped us decide what to do. I can report to you that we now have PS at 7:15pm for Ohana's on our first night. We plan to incorportate a ride on the Monorail and hopefully viewing of both the fireworks and the water parade. We hope that this will allow us to begin our vacation in a wonderful Disney way. Thanks for sharing your ideas and any others toward making this first night special in visiting both Ohana's and the Polynesian would be most appreciated. Thanks again! Pixie dust for all of you!
