Any Feedback on TTS?

Thanks to all of you for your comments on this issue. It really does mean alot to me and especially to the DVC sellers we are trying to help!

Has anyone else had experience with half-truths concerning Resales from the DVC guides? If so, please post, either on the boards or by PM to me. I just figure if I'm going to be discussing this with the DVC supervisors, it may as well include all the issues.

Thanks,
Tom

Before we "discovered" Resale, we had tossed around the idea of DVC membership for a few years, but wanted to pay cash and not invest in 150 points literally sight unseen. Once SSR began selling, our assigned Guide, of course, recommended it. He represented the overall process of making reservations as simple & easy at any time of the year, indicating that we'd have no problem getting a reservation at any DVC resort, any time of the year. :rotfl: Over many phone calls, there was never any mention of the 11 & 7 month windows, details, details. He also touted DVC as a retirement mecca. Think we'd have to add on a few points for that to work out.

No, but I can say that DW and I were singularly unimpressed with the guide we had when visiting SSR, to the point that when our resale offer through TTS passed ROFR, we called DVC to specifically request that our assigned guide be changed. Buying resale through TTS was a smooth experience for us, but we had already done our homework and had few to no questions to ask. Currently awaiting closing.

Not surprisingly, our guide during our tour of SSR never mentioned the existence of the resale market. Because we were uninformed at the time, we didn't ask him about resales, and so, had no opportunities to hear any half-truths.

You think they really care?

If our guide is typical of the rest (and I'll bet he is) they'll do anything to disuade you from looking into the resale market.

A favorite strategy seems to be using half-truths as scare tactics like the above example. When my guide found out I was going to buy resale he scoffed and said, "You'll never pass right-of-first-refusal".

If my guide ever did this, it would be over, I don't like those type of sales tactics at all. In fact my guide was very honest with me about resale benefits vs buying thru disney. Never did he try to sway me.

My first buy at BCV made sense to us because of the unbelieveable deal they were offering at the time, plus the resort itself was huge. This time resale made more sense and I'm happy to have gotten 2 100 pt contracts thru TTS with banked pts on both.

Every buying situation is different and a good Disney guide doesn't need to bring down other companies just for a sale, its called ethics or value system, and also good business, something you don't see alot of these days, but I know that TTS provides it.

Thanks everyone for the comments and insight. Two clarifying comments:
1) My DVC Guide never bad-mouthed resale. In fact, she complimented TTS. She was very knowledgeable (has been there sine '93) and proactively talked about resale vs. direct, gave me things to think about, etc....
2) My experience with TTS has been nothing but great so far. They've been overly friendly, responsive, and accomodating.
I'm was just trying to find out if anyone knew for certain whether or not "hold" points get transferred if Disney permits the contract to go through.

Again, thanks to everyone....
I am off to DW on Wednesday....taking the family for their first trips. DW is from South America, DS is almost 3, and DD is almost 1 (and yes, I know what I'm in for with the kids!!).

LOL, the classic get off the topic, that happens on these boards, sorry I don't know about hold points, I believe they would get transferred though.

Sounds like your guide is a jacka$$ and I would switch guides at once. Also I feel you should report the guide as pressure sales in unacceptable.

I have bought from both resale and DVC (probably will be buying more) and both were professional transaction. I will not tolerate such nonsense from any sales personnel (DVC or TTS) as quite frankly I feel is an insult to my intelligence.

Our guide is a senior salesperson and while she points out the advantages and highly recommends going through DVC (immediate use of points, financing, charging sale to DVC Visa, etc.) she has never bad mouthed resales.

If you have a guide who is doing so, he or she is not very professional nor or they worth a salt IMHO. Any time a sales person starts badmouthing their competitors, they not only do not believe in their product, but they have no faith in their sales abilities either.

I think anyone who reads this and is in sales for a living will agrees with me on this.

I am now looking into buying this contract in question. I too was told there was 160 pt in holding. Which is true but it needed some clarification as the pts were Disney Collection when cancelled and now cancelled they have to remain in Disney Collection, outside of Disney 7 DVC hotels, and can only be used for Disney non DVC hotels or the cruise before the use year of feb. 2006, 60 day window. The new owner of this contract can use the holding pts but only as stated above.
