Yup, its that time of month again:lmao: I've got to pay a huge cell phone bill for myself and my dd13. I have the best plan for our usage (2100 minutes with unlimited text) and pay a big price for it.

My ex has Metro and I've never had any problems with him making/receiving calls or texts. The only downside seems to be if you pay instore they charge a $3.00 fee.

When I mention to my current carrier I'm thinking about switching they all tell me Metro has horrible reception..

Any experiences?

i'm in fla and I've had it for about 1 yr. Love the unlimited talk/text for 1 low price. I've really not had problems with reception.

I think it depends on your area.

As of 2 years ago (when I left the cell phone industry) Metro PCS used the Sprint network. Not sure if that agreement is still in place but it was at the time.

I live in South Florida and have had Metro for about 6 years and have Never had any issues or problems with it. I has it for both my children but they both got iPhones and switched to AT &T. I am the only one in the house still with Metro. I have no intentions of switching!

They are horrible with payment not posted issues and have the worst customer service. I volunteer with our community center to help seniors get their "bills" in order. He had been paying them monthly but had some incorrect information on the checks he mailed. It took me two weeks, 10 faxes, and calls to the attorney general to get his phone turned on--for which he over paid by nearly $600. They kept depositing his money in their un-post account and not rectifying the balance, according to the state Attorney Generals office when I contacted them they had more than $325,000 sitting unposted. Getting a human to answer their phone lines is very difficult.

Local seniors frequently get "confused" and I have helped probably 30 people get similar situations resolved. I never have to do anything more than provide proof of payment. Metro PCS didn't even know what to do with the front and back of the check, it was like talking to a brick wall.

DH, DS and DS's girlfriend all have Metro PCS, and haven't had any problems what-so-ever with their service or billing. :thumbsup2

My best friend has them. Seems to work great in metropolitan areas. Not so good while traveling. She drove from S FL to here, NC and didn't have any service a good amount of the way. Same thing when she left here to head to boston. If you don't travel much it may be an option. Luckily she did get a GO Phone for emergencies now.

None of my business, of course, but it amazes me that two people can use 2100 minutes a month. Maybe you get billed for every single minute.

We only have 850 AT&T minutes and almost always wind up with rollover minutes. That's for my husband and two college kids with no landlines. We don't pay for calls to other AT&T cell phones and I have one for work, so all our calls to each other are non-billable. Calls after 9PM and on weekends also non-billable.

The only one who has text is my daughter. Not enabled for the other two phones. We pay around $100 a month for the three lines. We will be adding a fourth line when DS16 starts driving alone.

Not quite sure where you live and coverage varies greatly between providers.
Does your current provider have a pay as you go branch?
You know, Sprint has Virgin Mobile and Boost
Verizon has their own
And I think Tmobile and AT&T has theirs as well

Virgin Mobile btw, has Beyond talk plan which is unlimited text, email, data, web and 300 min talk for $25, or if you up it to $40/mo you get 1200min along with the other unlimiteds or up it to $60 you get unlimited everything.

Verizon is more expensive $95 for unlimited

If you like your current provider coverage it doesn't hurt to check their pay as you go lines. Since most likely you already have good coverage where you use your phones most.

I had them for 2 yrs no problems..if you pay on-line you avoid that fee, never had a payment not post or any reception problems (even driving NY to FL and back) finally gave it up in a "budget bare to the bones" (I was paying $40 per month unlimited with them) and then went with a pre-paid (10 cents a minute phone) I truly only use my cell on the road if I HAD to, I think Metro PCS would work for you & DD though
