Any experience with ADR for larger parties?

I booked an ADR this morning for 9 of us. I was told that we would not be seated at the same table, but at 2 tables. We have one confirmation number and I was told that the tip would be added automatically since there were more than 6 in our party. She said they would try to seat us near each other, but they can't guarantee it. Anyone have experience with this? What usually happens? Do you most often get to sit all together?

Thanks!!

we've had mixed experiences... most times we've ended up being seated together... once we were asked if we wanted to wait an extra 10 or 15 mins to be together or be seated right away, we opted to wait... at coral reef we were separated... it was just not as much fun, there was some "who wants to sit where" stuff w/in our family (little kids wanted to sit w/big kids, big kids didn't want little kids, etc)... but it was a nice dinner overall...

We went with 10 & were told that. Only one of our ADRs was "split" & it was 2 tables right next to each other at Crystal Palace which really worked out better. It was easier getting in & out & for the pictures & food

We normally always have at least one meal with between 9 and 12 people.
They always tell us we will have two tables and sometimes we do but they are always close to each other and 8 times out of 10 we are all seated together.
I hope this helps. :goodvibes

We have gone as a large group (10-16) and always had two tables, but even at the busiest times, we were all seated either together.

Have fun!

I've been on two trips that we booked for nine. On one, at every restaurant, we were all seated together (Crystal Palace, Hollywood & Vine, Donald's Breakfastosaurus... now Safari). On the last trip, we were seperated at one restaurant (Plaza Restaurant), but seated together at the other (50s Prime Time).

For the one we were separated, I was told upon making the reservation that we would have to be seated at two separate tables. I confirmed that it would be fine (last minute ressies... I was desperate). The two tables were right beside eachother. We were able to converse between the two tables.

We have ours made- Party of 7
Chef Mickey's we are fine
Teppan edo's also good to go
Narcoossee's all of us together as well
at Donald's safari breakfast they had to set us up as 2 tables but the CM on the phone said make sure we get there 15- 20 minutes prior and they will most likely seat us next to each other. (our ADR is 8:20 am)
I only hope since our party consists of me, DH, and our 5 kids - ages 17, 16, 12, 10, & 7
If anything else my older 3 can sit at one table while we sit w/ the younger two... Hope we get to experience it all as a family though. I was psyched to get ADR's for our party of 7 less than 90 days out at all other places with no problems.
Good Luck!

We were a party of 15. In most restaurants they put the ADR's in as separate tables. In one restaurant, it was actually 2 separate ADRs - one for 13 people, one for 2 people.

In all cases - when we got to the restaurant, we just told them we were all together and they were able to put us at one table in most places. In other places, we were right next to each other.

We usually did this at Chef Mickey's and they sat us next to one another.

We had 14 once in the middle of July. Here's what happened to us:
*1 big table at 'Ohana (twice, one breakfast & one dinner)
*3 tables in a row at CRT (this one had to be set up as 2 separate ADRs but we were all together, and as a PP said it was easier to get in & out for photos w/ the characters)
*1 big table at San Angel Inn
*2 tables at Mama Melrose
*2 tables at Rainforest Cafe @AK
*1 big table at Fulton's Crab House
*1 big table at Restaurant Marrakesh

At MM and RC the tables were near each other, but not right next to/close enough to talk, etc
