I'm usually on the cruise board.....so this is new territory for me on the budget board:)

Our next trip (sadly:( ) will not be to Florida, but to a dude ranch in Wyoming. I'm wondering if anyone here has done Priceline going someplace other than to WDW. I've never done it before, and was hoping someone could give me some tips, or tricks on getting good hotel deals........

thanks!:p

I've used it for bidding at Myrtle Beach, SC, and got a great deal on a 4 star!

Are you familiar with www.biddingfortravel.com ? It has been very helpful to me in the few times that I've used Priceline! ;)

I used Priceline two weeks ago to go from Okc to Mdt (Harrisburg, Pa.) roundtrip. It was a last minute trip which usually costs a bundle even using Expedia. I got it for a 69% discount!! I was worried about getting bad flights, but they were at times I probably would have picked.

We've used it twice in Toronto and it worked out great. Like above posters mentioned, go to biddingfortravel to get ideas on how much to bid. I bid based on what price ranges are being accepted. Good luck!

I've used Priceline quite a few times for hotels, and have been very happy.

We used it last June when we had to travel to Massachusetts for a wedding. We got a great price on a 4-star hotel and several of our friends who also stayed there paid quite a bit more. Gotta love Priceline!!

Wow! Thanks for all the responses....... you all are great!

I know that in Orlando, the hotels have lots of competition, so they are willing to lower their price to sell their product. My concerns are about area like S. Dakota, places that aren't so popular vacation spots where there are less hotels....I wonder if they are as interested in dropping their prices?

Anyone have experiences in out of the way places (Harrisburg was close!:p )

We have used Priceline for hotels in places like Wichita, Ks. and Kansas City, Ks. and have had terrific luck getting good prices.
We can usually get a 3* for anywhere between $30 and $50.
We've also used it for Sacramento, CA and recently had great luck getting a 3* for $50, which is a great price for California.

There are relatively few independents that participate in Priceline; it is mostly hotel chain properties. You can go out on
their site and do the initial search page for the date & area you want; that will tell you if they have anything on offer there. Don't go farther than that before you start reading up, though. You definitely want to do your homework before you bid.

BTW, you can shave off another couple of percentage points by going to the Priceline sites through the links on the Ebates site; they offer a rebate.
