So 2025 is going to be Efteling for 4 nights in July.
Anyone have suggestions, recommendations, etc etc etc?

The group includes 3 children ages 7 to 11 plus a 20 month old.
And of course, 6 adults.

We're going in early July in hopes that the crowds will be less bad than in August.

In August, we'll be on another Royal Caribbean cruise out of Barcelona (we were on the Oasis out of Barcelona this year and it was FANTASTIC!!)

By the way, we were also at WDW and Universal this past July (yes, lots of fun travel over the summer).
We had a nice time, though everything that people complain about the current state of disney was definitely true LOL.

Anyway, all you Efteling experts (and i know you're out there) all information will be most appreciated!!!

I'm not an expert myself, but over the summer, my family and I watched an incredible tour/video on YouTube about Efteling that you may love! The creator is Provost Park Pass. He says it's the most beautiful park in the world!

it's a great video!! he also has a video on the room that i reserved for my son and his family. Looks nice!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! We love his videos and his kind nature. That park is definitely somewhere we want to visit at some point. You'll have to let us all know what you think when you get back!

I've never been anywhere but Amsterdam.

I did a 3 night 4 day stay in October 2023. This is an amazing theme park, it’s on par with Disney. We personally found it much easier than Disney and much less crowded.
I recommend staying onsite as the hotels are a short walk to the parks. There are options to rent houses and apartments onsite that include tickets, breakfast and will have space for a party of your size. If you pay slightly more to stay in Village Bosrijk you also get access to the pool which we loved. We loved the onsite accommodation, it was big, clean and well themed.
You get early entry on site and all rides were walk on during that time.
The parks are very big and spread out, we hired their wooden cart things for the children for €5 which were well worth it.
I highly recommend reserving the pancake restaurant, great food and very fun!
They have some world class such as De Vliegende Hollander, baron 1898, Symbolica and droomvlutch.

It’s a very magical and enchanting place. I can’t wait to go again

thanks so much!! we are going to stay onsite.
We were debating between the efteling hotel and Village bosrijk.
is the village a very far walk? It looks lovely!!

thanks for the pancake restaurant recommendation.
I'll look it up right now.

Efteling is an amazing park, one every Disney fan should go to (except for the Pinocchio Dinner show, if they still do it, which is downright offensive).
Anyway, I think 4 days may be a bit too much. I think 2 full days are more than enough. Are you spending enough days in Amsterdam?

OT: Since we're talking about other parks, I think Phantasialand, near Cologne, is also well worth a visit.

we're actually only going to be there for 3 days, even though we're staying 4 nights....the arrival and departure days won't leave time to be in the parks.
We fly sunday morning to amsterdam then train/bus to efteling. So only arriving in the afternoon some time.
The Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we're in the park.
On Thursday morning we have to leave the hotel by 7 am as our flight is at 11 AM.
So only 3 days in the park.

This whole trip is just Efteling, nothing else. That's the reason we're going.

Your flight home at 11am or 11 pm ?

From which airport ?
..................
We flew home yesterday Sunday 15 th from Amsterdam

Arrived at concourse alongside train station

Then a 10 min walk to check in Q , then 20 min to

wait for boarding passes.. .> 5 min walk to go through

boarding pass scanner then on to Q for security 20 min

then once cleared scan & collected property join

the Passport Check ( Self Scan ) time it takes depends on ?

Once Through Passport .... you look for Departure Area & Gate no.

This could be a 10min Walk or 20 min ( our gate D 22 ) or more.

........
So Leaving your Hotel at 7 am to get to Schiphol Amsterdam

by 11 am flight is cutting it fine with the number in your party

we're taking a driver, not going by train.
we haven't set the time yet for pickup, so if we need to leave earlier, we will
I think it's something like 90 minutes from efteling to schiphol?
our flight is at 11:30 AM
we need to be there 3 hours early, so perhaps we'll need to leave earlier.
actually, i've decided to use the limo service both ways, from the airport to efteling and return.
It's easier

Tell me what you need to know.
July the crowds still will be heavy especially the early July. South of schools of south off The Netherlands are closed. Lots of people will have an annual pass, ''bouwvakantie'' will not be started so children will go by themself or with 1 (grand)parent.
Also other parts of the Netherlands, espacially the middle part won't have holidays yet, but Efteling is a popular schooltrip during those days. be prepared for the busiest days of the year.
And of august will be less crowded, South of the Netherlands will go back to school at the 17th of august.

Save ''sprookjesbos'' for the time when it's most busiest in the park. You can walk through it and it's lots of fun.

July can be hot, but also very cold, last July (2024) in the evening I was still wearing my winterjacket and it was raining all day long. On the other hand there where also years when we closed the schools some days because it was way to hot to teach (schools here (most of them) don't have airco) it went above 40 degrees in classrooms.

I think Efteling is nice, but 4 days is little to much. I never visit it more than 1 day in a row. I like the thrill rides, havent done the new one Dance Macabre yet, the lines are crazy for that one. Run to it the first thing in the morning is my advice.

I love ''Droomvlucht'' it's soo beautiful. If you bring your own lunch, eat it on the boats on the water, great place to sit, to relax and have something to eat.

Buy your parking ticket in the morning when you walk into the parks, if you do it when the park will close, you will stand in line for like forever.

In the morning that time with traffic? add 60 minutes at least. If your flight is at 11.30 I would be at the airport at 9.00 and not a minute later and I will leave my hotel at 6.30 or 6.00 traffic is crazy from Efteling to Amsterdam from 7 till 9. So yes, leaving at 6 it will take you around 90 minutes, leaving at 7 you will miss your flight! no doubt about it.

Thanks for all that information!!
The trip is set now - we're flying in on July 6 and flying out on July 10.
We are only going to visit Efteling, nothing else.
Fly into Schiphol, private bus to Efteling. Four nights Efteling. Private bus back to Schiphol and home.
The only reason we're going to the Netherlands is to visit Efteling.
My son and his young children went last year for 2 days and loved it and very much wanted to share it with us.
So this year it's my son and his family, my daughter and her family, and us.
Four nights is actually only 3 days in the park (we arrive Sunday afternoon and leave at the crack of dawn on Thursday).
This way we can take it at a slightly more leisurely pace.
Since the ages are 10, 9, 7 and 2, we'll probably spend more time in sprookjesbos than on the thrill rides!!

as for weather, yes we've encountered the hell that is Europe in a heat wave.
We were in France in July 2019 when the heat records were broken (44 degrees celsius).
Hell couldn't possibly be as hot as it was then.
This is actually part of the reason i chose the Efteling hotel over Bosrijk, which doesn't have a/c.
But i'll pray for a cold wave in any case.
Last summer, when my son was in Europe with his family in July it was bitterly cold for most of their trip, until they got to Efteling.

By the way, my son and his family also when to phantasialand last year and hated it. Probably because it's mostly thrill rides? I don't know. I'm not at all familiar with it. But that gives you an idea of what they like and don't like.

Bottom line - it's memories. There is no way to know what tomorrow will bring.
The grandkids wanted us to see Efteling so we will.
