I am decended from Irish immigrants on both my Mothers and Fathers side of the family.

Well, it's further back than my grandfather - his great-something-father James Martin was born in County Down, Northern Ireland 1759 and settled in Alma, New Brunswick before 1787.

He was in the British Army during the Revolution (he was only 18), but stayed after the war and moved to Nova Scotia and then New Brunswick.

I know a lot about the German half of my mom's side and tons about my father's Norwegian side, but nothing about my Irish roots except this.............

Great Grandparents (both sets) - paternal - County Cork, Ireland
Great Grandparents - maternal (one set) - also Ireland, not sure where from

I'm Irish, DH is Irish.

My Mom is Irish as are her parents. My Dad is Dutch.

DH's Dad and Grandparents are Irish.

My father-in-law was 100% Irish, and my mother-in-law was 50% Irish. My father is 50% Irish as well. St. Patrick's Day is considered a "high holy day" in my neck of the woods!!!!!;)

had bought oasis lakes while on holiday and were about to sample the first nights when my kids said to me "pick us up at Pleasure island at 01:30am.
So I said to myself what am I doing buying out here.
Went to see dvc and used the 7Day cooling off rule to return oasis lakes by airtours at the bottom of International drive.

got the message

WELCOME HOME

My great-grandfather Brown immigrated to the US and wound up settling in of all places....Texas.
I don't know too much about where in Ireland he is from, but my father and I both get our red hair, fair skin and freckles from him!
And who knows, maybe our temperment as well.....

I have dark brown hair but I have noticed that the Florida sunshine seems to have

BLEACHED IT IN PLACES

Great-grandparents were from Inchigeelagh in County Cork. I spent two weeks in Ireland for a family reunion and it was one of my best trips ever!

Well, I am a HUGE fan of Michigan State University and their slogan is

GO GREEN

pin;)

My DH family made an attempt at a family tree and they traced his grandmothers parents to 2 Irish immigrants Daniel O'hare and Bridgette Lyons. They were never able to find out where in Ireland they came from. They arrived in Virginia and met as farm hands, but settled in North Jersey I believe working a salloon.

If by "IRISH" you mean Irish born, no. Of Irish heritage-YES!
Grandparents on moms side from Donegal(Ballyshannon)-still have plenty of relations there. Dad' side-Galway(Athenry and Tuam) hwere the sawdoctors are from. Relations there as well.

Waiting for the DVC resort in the Ring of Kerry!(Where DH's relations are)

I often lament to my mom about Grandma's choice to settle in NY. If when she cam from Ireland she settled in Florida I wouldn't have to long for the days when we can go to FLA.

Irish on my dad's side.

GO NOTRE DAME!!!
Shake down the thunder from the sky...

God, it's great to be Irish-in more ways than one!

Can't help but wonder if the Tag Fairy is Irish???:teeth:

I'm half Irish my mother was born in Ireland so were my grandparents and great grand parent and great great grand parents they go way back on my mothers side.
