Well my mother is an owner at the Beach Club Villas. She went into the presentation in 2002 with my financially savvy dad as an advisor/guard on the matter. She came back a member. She's also added on twice since then. So I guess she feels it's worth it.

We own at Saratoga Springs and Animal Kingdom Villas. Dh thought it was a good deal. I am not the money manager in this family he is. I can say that I love the room and access to a washer and dryer. We have only had one trip "home" since we bought in, but thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The space, the washer and dryer, the microwave and full fridge, Having our own room to sleep in and two and a half baths!! We had a dedicated two bedroom. We also love the perks. Especially on the AP. We haven't been members long, but we certainly don't have anything bad to say.

We are DVC members and there is a thread on here about this and tonnes of replies even info about becoming DVC members.

Yes it is worth it, if you go often,we go often,

we have added on and are very pleased.

:cool1:

We bought in 2001 when it cost .34 on the dollar - now it's .12 on the dollar - wish we could afford to add on!!!
We love DVC - we figured that we go every year and spend at least $1500 USD per trip on value-moderate rooms - now we can stay in beautiful villas that non-DVC guests pay at least $350 USD per night for - PLUS we don't have to eat out much because we have a beautiful kitchen to cook in, which saves $$$ too. We figure it would pay for itself in five trips - been there at least 8 times on DVC points - already paid for itself, and now I have 40 or so years without paying for accommodations - no down side at all!!!:cool1:

We own SSR and are pretty close to adding on at Animal Kingdom. We have been to Vero, Beach Club and SSR and loved all 3.

Add us in too - We felt it was worth it because it was going to guarantee us a great family trip at least every other year (just don't tell my dh that we will have gone 3X in one year as of Aug :lmao: :rotfl2: ) in delux accomodations.

We have stayed at SSR, OKW, BWV, WLV and are staying at AKL hotel part in Aug to see if we like it enough to add on points there!! I have a goal to stay in all the DVC resorts!! Sure do hope one pops up in California soon too!!

Has anyone figured out what their maintenace fees would be at the end of their contract if they continued to rise at the maximum amount allowable? I would love to buy into DVC but I am concerned that I may be stuck with the points at the end that I may not use and have to pay an obsence amount of money for maintenance fees. I don't know how to figure out what that cost might be in 2042?

I don't even want to think about that. EEK!

If the fees get to be too high, I'll just sell off and go back to Pop Century. For now, I like not having to pay for the hotel room on each trip. I pay once in Jan/Feb and I'm good for the year.

I can get at least 10 days, maybe 12-14 depending on Value DVC season and Resort. The cheapest discount I've ever been able to get for Pop is about $20 off of rack. (that's been an AP discount) So as long as 10 days at an AP rate in December plus a mini-fridge each day is about the same as my maintenance fees, I'll be keeping it.

*Hope that wasn't too confusing but it makes sense to me and it's my money. lol

I don't really think about that because Rack Rates for regular rooms have been increasing faster than maintenance fees. So in 30 years you could be paying $10/point but a room at the All Stars might cost $450/night.
