I'm 42 years old, and a buddy of mine called me up. He's an old colleg buddy, a guy that I used to play D and D with. We probably spent literally 500 - 1000 hours playing that game over a 2 year period. We had a weekly game. Then college came to an end and so did our weekly D and D games. That was in 1986.

Now, he calls me and wants to play again. Not regularly, but maybe once a month. He says he has about 5 of our old players willing to play again.

I absolutely loved playing in college, but that was 18 years ago. And I think I might feel ridiculous playing a roleplaying game at my age.

We're both married, and have kids..... seems like something better left in the past.

What do you think?

Are you kidding???? Who says you have to grow up? GO GO GO!! Its a night out - regress regress!!! I loved playing D&D.

D&D ROCKS!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE playing, but all my fellow players have moved on in life! GO PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My DH, 42, is having a game here Friday. He has one about once a month. He's been playing off and on for about 25 years. It's quite a varied group of players. DS, 16, plays as well as several of his classmates. Several guys in their 40's, one with his DD. One guy is in his 60's. His son plays occasionally and his grandson is a regular. There's a 20 something girl as well.

They bring snacks and spend 6 or 7 hours playing. My eyes glaze over and roll up in my head when they start talking d & d, ;) but DH & DS sure do enjoy it. :D

Well, I'm 28, my BF is 32 and we both play. Our two groups consist of players between the ages of 24-60. Most are married with children, some with grandchildren. Sometimes, when we play at one couple's house who have two kids ages 12 and 16, the kids play too.

All these adults are working professionals. We only manage to get together a few times a month. D&D is just our social thing.

I think it's great. I can never imagine not playing. Go play!

Definitely go play! I haven't played in years, since my old group broke up, but I'd play again in a heartbeat.

It's a great way to get your creative juices going and escape from the world for a while :)

Anyone gotta group together in Northern Virginia?

I only do roll playing games if Im naked

Check the Gamers seeking Gamers section on www.enworld.org

It's a message board for gamers, about gaming. Nice folks there. We've met and played with people around here from board meets from that site.

while we still havent progressed up to d and d, we are r eviving the old hero quest game kind of d and d light..lol.. its slowly headed into d and d though:) we have weekly game sessions, dw and i play along with our best friends and another couple, we have ablast. definately easier to work off stress while beating up monsters etc:)

I haven't played in a long time, but I don't think there's anything wrong with picking it up again at any age. It's a total creative and friendly outlet. If you're shirking responsibilities at home, then maybe it might be a problem... but otherwise. :)

I'm 26 and my husband is 35, and we both play. Almost all of the people that play in games I'm in are 25+ years old; several are 40+.

If you think you'd enjoy it, don't let a silly thing like age hold ya back. ::yes::

Maybe it's time to bring Zyharius VI, out of the closet!:D ... and back to the dungeons.......

I'll definitely give it some thought. One thing, my wife doesn't "get" D and D, so I don't think she'll like it if I decide to do it.

My boyfriend is 37, and I'm 26, and we still play. Not a 'regular' game, or anything (though we're looking for people to join us :)), but we still play. We have lots of friends in their 30s and 40s that play. I say, if you're going to have fun - why not! The guy who created the game was over the age of 40 when he made it - so I definitely don't think you're too old :p

DH is a hugh D&D player - weekly w/the guys here Sun from about 9am-4pm
Actually right now they're taking a break
He's been playing for over 23yrs

Why not? I see nothing wrong with playing it once you're out of college. :)

Me, I'm trying to get DH into Everquest. As close to D&D as I can get him, I think. :D

Thanks for posting that, Esmerelda! I've really been in a mood to play something online lately, and looks like I might be able to find something there. :D

And inspired by that place, anyone maybe interested in doing something online either *here* or via email?

Lemme rephrase: Anyone who knows what they're doing interested in *running* one either via posts or email? LOL! I want to play, but I don't know how. ;)

I haven't played D&D in years, mostly because my friends have moved to other areas of the country. But several of my friends do play EQII. We can play and catch up on what's going on RL without large phone bills.

My husband runs a variety of games online at dndadventure.com, and he's usually looking for someone to join in (well, I know at least the Dragonlance game is right now anyway). That board isn't as friendly as Enworld though. He does in fact know what he's doing, though. heehee
I don't want to thread-jack .. pm me if you're interested at all. :)

Go, play, have fun! My DH (34) plays about once a month too. Everyone is his age, well except our DS10 who they let play too. They play for about 4-5 hours on a Sunday morning at the house of the DM. Since they are all busy with family and work, they only have been playing every other month lately. I really hope you go and have a good time!!!!

the closest I come is the baldurs gate series. I belong to a couple of websites devoted to it and many players also play D&D live...many are married and have kids, etc. As do I.

hey, it can't hurt to try...if you don't like it, or still feel strange, you can always quit.
