Any Disney deluxe tips?

Just a small disclaimer:

We're a family of 5. In most of the DVC properties, we would need a LOT of points to get a week over the summer.

I've done some preliminary research. For us, it's not the cheapest way to go. Yes, I realize you get a full kitchen, but I'm on vacation, so we're not cooking anyway.

A family of 4 is probably a very different matter. But for us, a good discount on a Deluxe property is much cheaper than DVC.

Not necessarily. Disney is adding Murphy beds to the studios at VWL right now so that those rooms will accommodate 5 people. VGF already has those Murphy beds and it is rumored that eventually ALL DVC studios will have them (with perhaps the exception of AKV value studios).

When you compare the cost of renting DVC points for a studio to the cost of staying at POR in a standard room that accommodates 5, the DVC studio is a better deal, if you can get it.

That would make a difference for us. Ever time I looked into dvc, we would have been forced to get a 2 bedroom just to have 3 beds (my kids do not share a bed).

Do you know when they will be implementing this?

All VGF studios have the Murphy beds and they are in the process of converting the VWL studios. Some have been finished. The rest should be done by the end of the summer.

When do you go? We only stay Deluxe because we're spoiled, but we go during a less busy week and can usually get a price that's nearly 60% off, which is lower than moderate.

How do you get a price that's nearly 60% off? Even for the off-season (which is when I go), the best discounts I've seen are 35%.

Thanks in advance for any info.

For this July I'm paying a bit more than $200/night for CBR. Not the cheapest rate I could have gotten. It's a pirate room with water view or as my wife called it the "sucker's package". Lol
You're getting deluxe for less?
With school age kids we go in the summer but I realize I'll never get the best deal. Working around some holidays and maybe missing a few days of school is something I would consider.

I just came back from a meeting that was held at the YC/BC. I had a room at the YC that we booked through the convention website and we paid $199/night. That's pretty much what you're paying for a pirate room at CBR in July.
