I am curious if any fellow DisBoard members were scheduled on American Airlines flight 1021 on 10/20/06. I have a couple of questions. Thanks!

Did the flight ever leave MCO? What time did it arrive in DFW?

It was a nightmare for us to get home, and this flight was just the beginning of our troubles.

What happened? We didn't enjoy our AA flights last July either.

The plane had a mechanical problem. They had to find another plane as a replacement. The replacement flew to Boston, where it too had a mechanical problem, and needed to be replaced. So they were expecting that one to leave MCO at 10:30pm instead of 6:05pm.

I requested an overnight at MCO, since I was traveling with DD 4 and DD 6, instead of and overnight at DFW. We were scheduled to arrive at DFW around 1:45am, then would need to get a hotel room, and be ready to fly out of DFW by 7:35am.

My flight out of MCO the next morning was also delayed. Once again causing me to miss my connection.

I did finally get home via Delta. It was 22 hours after ME dropped me off at MCO.

fofinia, we had a wonderful time at the World. In fact we won Dream Fastpasses on Soarin 10/17. It was very exciting! :cloud9:

I'm sorry your trip home wasn't as magical as the rest of your vacation. I'm glad you all made it home safely. You've just given me another reason to avoid AA on future trips.

At least they inspect their planes between flights. Delays can be a nuisance... but wouldn't you rather fly in a safe plane? Glad you're home safe and you had a lovely trip!

I have been reminded why my post count is so low after 3 years of reading these boards! I was asking a question only for my own information.

Of course I am glad that they inspect the planes, and I would not want to fly on any plane with mechanical problems. I have given you the Reader's Digest version, and certainly did not go into any details about their mishandling of the situations. I did not complain about all the other things that happened during that 22 hours. I only explained the basic facts.

I was on this flight last night. We were delayed getting into DFW because there was another plane at our gate. The flight attendant come on the intercom and said that 80% of the people on the plane were making connections. Luckily, the arriving gate was close to our connection (we went from A to B) and we made it. We also left MCO 20 minutes later than we were supposed to and there were 26 stand-bys that kept getting pushed from one flight to the next. It was chaotic and I'm glad I got home last night. I'm sorry that you had such a long delay. I'm always afraid that the same thing will happen to me.
