Any DISers from Nashville?

We're driving to WDW from Indiana on Sat. Apr 2. We're concerned about traffic delays in and around Nashville. I posted on the Transpo board without much success. Could someone from Nashville give me some detailed info on construction and specific routes to take to avoid it? We're coming from Indiana on I-65 to I-40? to I-24 to I-75 at Chatanooga.

You might check out the website to one of the local television stations. I use www.newschannel5.com. Look under the traffic report and maybe that will help you out.

Most of the construction in that area is clear from what I see anyway. I know this weekend some of those areas were closed because of the NCAA tournaments, but I don't think there is any construction going on.

Nashville is always heavy on traffic as is Atlanta. Just do your best to avoid rush hours and that will help some.

Instead of going the 24/40 route (that's where they've been doing the weekend bridge construction) stay on I65-south and follow the signs to I40 west (Memphis). As soon as you merge on to I40 you'll see signs for I440, take this (you can only go one way on I440); this will take you to I-24 east (Chatanooga) after about 4 miles. Even if there's no delay due to construction, you'll only have gone about 5 minutes out of your way. The constuction's been taking place on I40 east, but has been causing backups all the way onto the I24/40 section. They've also been doing some work on I-65 north of town, but there's no easy way to get around that, as far as I've heard that work hasn't been causing major delays. The Dept. of Trans. The only disadvantage to my alternative route is you won't have the privlege of driving by and seeing the magnificent Colliseum where the mighty Titans do battle
