Really want to surprise my girls with a convertible this spring trip. Currently have one reserved with Dollars KISS3 rate. Was wondering if I would do better renting 2 weekends dropping off and picking up at the Dolphin, but National and Alamos rates are sky high, and none of the coupons work for that car class. Any suggestions?

How many people in your party? Some of the convertibles have virtually no trunk space. Works if it's just 2 people and you can put your luggage in the back seat.

Keep checking, sometimes agencies run specials. Check hotwire. Check mousesavers for codes. Check a site like travelnow.com. They sometimes get the best rates without having to worry about codes and coupons.

If all else fails book a full size and try to negotiate a reasonable upgrade price when you get there.

I have rented convertibles a few times and generally find the best deals with Dollar (other's seem not to want to discount them much.) Keep watching www.mousesavers.com though, maybe something will come up.

You could also try Priceline. I got a good deal with Budget one time via them.

Do you have a Disney Visa? I was able to get a much better deal for my rental by switching from National to Alamo for the time we will be there in March. I also priced a convertible, and I believe for the time we were there (3/2 - 3/5) it was $137 using the Disney Visa offer.

I have a Disney Visa, but know nothing of the offer (haven't used the card in a while, so haven't gotten a statement). Is there a web site I for Disney Visa I can get offers off of? Thanks!

I booked a convertible last summer with National using a AAA rate and have the car for 18 days for $612.00 including all fees and taxes. I have checked many times throughtout this past year and found nothing even close. Our last convertible rental was thru Dollar and we had $199.00 for a weekly rate and had a beautiful, brand new Chrysler Sebring. I can only hope our National car is as nice! I think I would stick with Dollar and play around with all the codes and see if you can beat the price.

I just reserved a Ford Mustang Convrt. through Hert for March. $108 including all taxes and fees for 2 days. This was the cheapest I could find, I tried all the codes on Mousesavers.

Shelly,
I noticed your user name has 3 girls. I just wanted to warn you, the Mustang convertible has a TINY trunk! Not much luggage will fit in there!

Thanks for the advice! The conv. is actually for a quick trip to FL for a wedding, just me and DH. We will probably only have a garmet bag and a small carry-on. We are then taking DDs to WDW 2 weeks later! Cannot wait for the warm weather. We were actually able to rent a mid-size SUV for $160 total for a whole week in March, it sounded like a great price to me!
