Any disadvantage to having a casual lunch at MCO before taking DME to Boardwalk Inn?

If your really hungry...eat. If you can wait...then wait.

I agree that a nice lunch at Big River Grille would be lovely.

I think the itty bitty pretzels and half glass of soda pop would be enough to tide me over so that I would be ok to wait.

I would go straight to the resort. Check in and have bell servicies hold your bags if the room is not ready. Why hang around the airport! You will do that enough on the depressing flight home! There are quite a few places just to sit, eat, relax and take it all in.

You have Big River Grille, The bakery, Kouzzina's at BW plus Beaches & Cream, Captain's Grille at Y&B in addition to both pool bars! Have lunch, figure out your "game plan" and take it in. Let the vacation begin!

OP, if you are hungry when you land, go ahead and grab something at the airport. We often stop at the center food court before getting on our way if our flight lands mid-day. There are several different chain fast-food type places, at more or less "regular world" prices. Our go-to is Sbarro's, which isn't exactly good, but still better than Typical Disney CS Pizza.

Then again, we have teenagers, and things get ugly if they don't eat every few hours. We were at Disneyland just last week: my daughter had waffles, eggs, and bacon in the condo before we left for DCA at 7:30, and was sitting in Flo's V-8 Diner eating the brioche french toast *plus* half of her brother's breakfast by 9:30.
