Any difference in summer crowds from weekend to weekday?

Since every day in the summer seems to be busy is it worth avoiding a Sunday to go on a Tuesday? If we were to go on the Tuesday we would have to pay for an additional night for a hotel (this is at the end of an existing trip) so I just was wondering if there's enough difference to justify that expense. I am looking at Sunday June 11 or Tuesday June 13. Thanks!

From my personal experience Weekends are less crowded than weekdays....Saturdays and sundays for us are always way better (for the summer crowds) during that time. Something about passes being blocked out during the weekend Or so we've been told

ahhhh...I never thought about it that way. Makes sense. Thank you!

Sundays are the busiest days during the summer. The Deluxe APs are blocked on Saturdays but not Sundays. Saturdays are less busy in some ways, but Sundays are horrible. We're talking 20-30 minute waits for Snow White and Pinocchio, which are often walk-ons or ten minutes.

This is usually true for Saturday, but not Sunday. The passes are only blocked on Saturday.

Our experience has always been that Sundays have been one of the best days to go. But let me say up front that we are not AP holders so others may have more experience with this. Last year, the Sunday we were there was by far the least crowded of our 5 day stay. We did not have MM so were at DL; we were able to ride a lot before 11, including most of FL, Indy and others I can no longer remember. The parks did get more crowded as the day went on, but before noon it was really great. I was talking to a CM about this while waiting for rope drop and wondering aloud where everyone was ... she said the reason for it is because most guests at DL are locals, who often stay out late on Saturday and don't get up on Sunday mornings to go to the park.

Possibly the situation was different at DCA where MM was taking place so I would assume most guests there were not locals. But DL was great.

I have to agree!! For us Saturday and Sunday were the BEST days of our trip a few trips in a row... come Monday and Tuesday .... PEOPLE EXPLOSION and more so than normal as there was a noticeable difference!!!

As mentioned above ... I guess the passes are only blocked on Saturdays, however for us during the last few trips we have found Saturday & Sunday to be WAY less crowded than the Monday/Tuesday portion of the week. The fact that it happened more than once.. leads me to believe that during the summer when school is off and the whole week is fair game ... the weekends are less crowded. I don't want to lead you in the wrong direction ...but this is what has happened in the past with our trips :)

So interesting! For our last couple of summer trips our Saturdays and Sundays have been by far the best days. MONDAY was HORRIBLE... as was TUESDAY! YIKES !

Sundays always seem the busiest to me, no matter what time of year I go!

I have heard that Sunday mornings are great. But the rest of Sunday is horrible. We've only been twice on a Sunday as it's usually our travel day. Both times we arrived at the parks later in the day and it was crazy, crazy busy. In May 2015 the wait for everything was double what it was later in the week. We went to see a parade and just be in the parks, so it wasn't a big deal. But I remember my oldest was getting cranky because she really wanted to go on a ride and we just didn't want to wait. I finally took her on Snow White and we waited about 30 minute for it. That's a ride we always just walk-on. We do have plans to go on a Sunday morning this year. I am hoping that it is true that Sunday mornings are not that bad. But I did look at the app this weekend and the whole weekend was crazy busy compared to the previous week. Sunday morning was less busy than Saturday morning. But it's also the start of Spring Break.

This past Sunday, with the park opening at 8:00, we'd done HSM, Star Tours, Indy, BTMRR, all of the Fantasyland dark rides except PP and Alice, Dumbo, the Carousel (and we waited one cycle because DD desperately wanted to ride Jingles) and the Storybookland Canal Boats before 10:00. We'd have done Splash, too, but it was a little too chilly that early.

Well you guys are just confusing me haha. Thanks for the input. I guess I'll probably just try for the Sunday, since there are mixed experiences and it will fit better with the rest of our trip. We'll have the extra hour and will hopefully get a lot done before it gets too crazy. Thanks for all the help!

My personal experiences are that local people do not all have APs and many people work M-F. The kids are out of school in the summer and families go to DL on the weekend. It gets crowded when you factor people from out of town and vacationers in (plus APs). I have lived nearby and have visited my whole life and weekends are the worst in the summer. But Sunday mornings can be nice. You have people sleeping in, going to church, spending time with family in the morning and it can be a beautiful little pocket of sunshine in the crowded masses of summer. Summer is just crowded and you have to prepare for that. If you get a piece of Sunday morning bliss or a second half of August lower crowd surprise, then you are very lucky :)
