What are the details with the old spaceship earth ride? The last time we were there was the last day it was open. Any details?

Are you asking for details on what it was before the refurb, or after?

This is always a hot topic across all Disney chat boards. Guests seems split on the "improvements". I think they're neat but lots of people go the other way. popcorn::

after, how is it different?

Well, first and foremost, they removed any reference to AT&T, as the contract ended.

The largest difference is that each car now has an interactive experience. If you have not ridden it since the old ride, I won't give it away. Everyone seems to like that part, though.

The rest seem to be minor changes to take advantage of new technology, i.e. the wooly mammoth in the beginning was once a slide projected on the wall, updated now as a cleaner digital projection image.

Also, the downhill side has been updated, to bring SE into the 21st century, and to take advantage of the aforementioned interactivity.

Lastly, the exit area was completely gutted, and replaced with tons of interactive stuff like you would see in Innoventions.

Siemens now sponsors it.

The overall theme of the narration is different, changing from more face-to-face styles of communication to more network-like stuff, reflecting current trends. The narration is done by Dame Judi Dench.

Just as you start your picture is taken for use later.

Some scenes were simply cleaned up (like the mammoth mentioned above). Towards the end they were completely replaced. I believe after the television/moonlanding scene everything was removed, replaced with a large computer room, and a "Not Steve Jobs" scene :) Rather than get into the future of communications, it stops roughly at the present.

After the Earth scene, as you start the descent, you pass through something I call the "inifinity room" - lots of lights arranged in rows off into the distance, like those 70s "infinity mirrors", but not quite as inifinite.

Then during the section where there is nothing to see, the interactive display on your vehicle asks questions, and based on your answers will produce an animation with your faces from the picture earlier showing your future.

The second half, {going down} stinks like yesterday's diapers. Why couldn't they leave well enough alone? :confused3
bring back Tomorrows Child, I say.

The same reason they had to mess with - and effectively spoil - Journey into Imagination, El Rio del Tiempo, the Enchanted Tiki Room...the list goes on.

Apparently these attractions had to be dumbed down to match the intelligence level of whomever within Disney approved the rehab.

Thank you. That really says it all..............
