Usually the best prices on any camera from a respectable place is from Buydig/Beach Camera. They are sister sites but the prices can be a few dollars different. You should be sceptical of anything lower than them. I always check a store's rating before buying from them at http://www.resellerratings.com/. Sometimes the big chain stores have sales that are good, so you might want to check their websites as well.

Are you limiting your search exclusively to Sony products, or are you open to other brands as well? Nothing against Sony cameras, just curious as to whether you might be considering anything else.

I would suggest you use the various review sites to narrow it down to the one model that best suits your needs, then use www.pricegrabber.com and www.resellerratings.com to choose a retailer. If you have questions concerning a specific retailer, you may want to post back here. Beach/Buydig are reputable, as is B&H; those three are all top-tier online retailers. I've also personally had good luck with sigma4less.com, amazon, buy.com, and Dell. Dell sometimes runs "coupon code" specials on various products, cameras included, and I've seen significant savings on occasion. I did not use a code when I bought my Canon camcorder from them, but as a Dell customer (I own four Dells at present...) I asked them to price match a *reputable* online dealer, and they did. Camera was in stock and was delivered in two or three days.
