DH has decided he wants to get a 42" TV. Any deals out there? Too bad he didn't know he wanted this on Black Friday.

Things to consider LCD vs. Plasma - Plasma is known for having the image burn into it but that seems to be fixed in most tvs now. The other issue is glare. LCDs have a much lower level of glare.
I did forget about LEDs b/c they are way more than I want to spend right now! You can easily see the superior picture quality but we just don't watch enough tv to justify the added cost for LED!Don't forget LED TVs now.
If you are Costco member, go to their warehouse and check a few out - write down model numbers, etc and research at home. They extend the 1-year warranty to 2-year for TVs bought from them.

I am researching tv's right now and am going to wait until I get the right deal...

1080 vs. 720 - we decided on the 1080 b/c we want above 40 inches.
60 hz vs. 120 hz. This is the speed at which the screen refreshes and if you plan to use it for any gaming then you should definately get 120.
All of these factors will affect the price. I have been told it is best to wait until after the Superbowl as they go on big sales then
I said that the issue has been fixed in most models...but every tv sales guy I talk to has warned me about it and told me to make sure before I purchase plasma...just passing on what they tell you in the store.Burn-in on Plasmas hasn't been a problem for years. Our Plasma is 3 years old and the problem had pretty much phased out 2 years before we bought our TV. Plasma's do give better picture quality, but they are heavy and cumbersome to move.
I also read that TV's aren't necessarily cheaper before or after the superbowl (based on past comparisons). The prices on TV's drop as newer models come out.
We have a 52 inch Samsung and are extremely happy. The picture quality is fantastic. We had the AT&T guys here the other day installing U-verse and they kept commenting on how great our picture was.
