Any current CMs on the DIS today? What's it like there?

I was watching Good Morning America (until the STOOPID interruption for the embassy bomb - OK, OK, I KNOW it was breaking news, but COME ON PEOPLE!) And I was thinking how exciting things must be there today! Any CMs on the board today? Is everyone keyed up there today? Gosh it must be so exciting! Now I kinda wish we moved our trip up a bit, crowds be damned!

Oh I can't wait! 30 days from today we leave!

For those of us not IN the parks, you'd hardly know it's happening except that people keep watching the weather! :umbrella: In the parks themselves, it's a little chaotic, with press people everywhere (including in many, many places they're not supposed to go), celebs here and there (Alan Cumming, Daphne Zuniga, the Cheetah Girls, Lance Bass, Patrick Warburton, etc), and a lot of very tired people (custodial, foods, technicians, operations ... people are pooped!). Last night's press event was totally re-arranged because of dire forecasts of rain and hail, but then it didn't rain a drop all night. Go figure. Tonight we're at Epcot, celebrating the opening of Soarin' with a "California"-themed party.

But for most of the cast -- those who work in the offices and in the more backstage roles -- it's pretty much a day like any other. Maybe with a few less execs hanging around!

Oh ... Someone did say that there might be cake later. :teeth:

ok so I"m ONCE again lost!! :confused3 what's going on at WDW today????

It's May 5, 2005 - kickoff day of the 18month long celebration of Disneyland's 50th.

Didn't they give you guys like pep talks or anything? Well, I guess you don't really need it anyway! :goodvibes

Thanks for giving me the backstage scoop! I feel like I know someone "on the inside". :teeth:

I was at MK and Epcot today and the crowds weren't too bad. The simulcast with Disneyland was great at 1 PM. Brought a tear to a lot of peoples eyes.

I am so thrilled that I got to experience the start of the celebration. Also got to meet the Imagineer who invented Soarin. It truly was a magical day for me. :) :)

I am in the process of posting my pictures to my photo.epson site. Look in the Happiest Celebration album. Also have some more pictures of the 50th celebration merchandise.

How exciting!! Wish I could've been there. Oh well, we'll be there in October and there will be plenty of magic left for us.

I was there last night as a CM, at the Epcot Event, providing chair massage to the guests. It was such a fun night. We were set up just inside the front doors of the Land. Got to see everyone before and after they rode Soarin. Lots of people, lots of celebrities, and so much fun. I feel like one of the luckiest people in the world. I am in a profession that I love, in a place that I love. Couldn't have been any better  ::MickeyMo  ::MinnieMo

Who were those celebs? Other than Lance Bass of old N'SNYC fame I didn't know a single name mentioned above? :confused3

I guess they didn't want to get anyone who would try to upstage the Fab Five! ::MickeyMo

In my area, we've been "all press event ... all the time" since late February. No pep talks needed!

:cheer2:

Hey there .... I was INSIDE the Land pavilion, working with the California Guitar Trio! ("it's a small world after all ...") The chair massage area was getting rave reviews.

In your pictures of Main Street, is that a normal crowd level, really busy, really light? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect. The only time I have been to WDW was one day at Epcot and there were about 12 other people there (early January '96).

Also, did the mirror do anything on the castle?

Alan Cumming was in “Cabaret” on Broadway. He was also Nightcrawler in "X-Men 2" and Fegan Floop in the "Spy Kids" movies. Daphne Zuniga is most famous for playing JoBeth in Melrose Place and Princess Vespa in "Spaceballs." The Cheetah Girls have a series on The Disney Channel. Patrick Warburton played Elaine’s boyfriend Puddy in Seinfeld.

from WDSearcher(Alan Cumming, Daphne Zuniga, the Cheetah Girls, Lance Bass, Patrick Warburton, etc),

Alan Cumming was Floop is Spy Kids, and Nightcrawler in X-Men among others
Daphne Zuniga was in Melrose Place, Space-Balls, the Sure Thing among others
The Cheetah Girls was a Disney Channel Movie featuring Raven Symone from That's so Raven
Lance Bass knew ;) Joey Fatone was there too
Patrick Warburton was the voice of Kronk in Emperors New Groove. He also does the pre-show for Soarin

I swear I saw Orlando Bloom, but I think I was just wishing it was him pirate:
I also spotted Gloria Estefan, Some Trading Spaces People, an Extreme Home Makeover person... quite a few others. It was fun!

They were GREAT! I enjoyed listening to them while we were working! I loved their rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody! I'm really glad guests enjoyed the massages. I think at one point, we were causing a little back-up with people waiting right there in the entrance!

PS: You beat me to the celebrity bios ;)

Nuts! See what I missed!

Thanks for all the inside scoops! I LOVE DISBoards!
