Any cons to Online Checkin?

Check in seem to be different at each resort. Sometimes they meet you at the front door, sometime when you get off DME, at the front desk, or they send you an email and try to get you to bypass the front desk.

I will have to say I think online checkin is now prioritizing requests. I usually skip this and confirm my requests at the checkin counter with a cast member. However last trip we were not checking in until close to 10:00 pm. So I did online checkin the first available time I could ( like 10 days before arrival). I actually got my 3rd floor, standard view Moorea building request. This is a very difficult request to fill and was shocked to see that I got it checking in so late. So now I have changed my opinion about online checkin totally!!:tiptoe:

Did you make those requests online or were they added to your reservation by MS?

I made those requests online. I always use the " Contact us" feature and sen an email stating my travel plan reservation number and room requests. I then get an email back stating they have notated those requests on my reservation. So I even get a confirmed reply that they have indeed included those requests.

So if 3rd floor and Moorea were available requests online then they were added to your reservation when you did online check-in the same as if MS had added them.

The room assigner filled your request and the front desk didn't give your room matching that request away to someone who physically checked in prior to you.

No did not happen that way. I used the contact us method to make my room requests which were then notated on my reservation. At online check in I did not choose any requests just went thru the checkin process. I am assuming the room assigner did fulfill that request AFTER online checkin process and it was held for me. Again I did online check in DAYS before arrival.

It's my understanding that this is the way it has always worked.

The split stay not working thing happened to us as well last month. Everything worked great for the first two nights at Poly bungalows. Moved to BWV and got the "come to front desk" text. Took a very long time and two trips to front desk to get all 4 of our bands to work to open the door. Then upon moving to SS for last two nights, same text to visit the desk. After long time there, they ultimately had to give us cards for the door. Bands still worked fine for park and charging, but not to open room. After seeing a couple other posts on this thread, I'm thinking there must be band issues when split stays occur, although we had no such issues last year with split stay.

It happened to us once early on in the MB implementation period. I have since always gone to the front desk to check out of the first portion of a split stay (when we do one) and politely asked them to completely check us out and close out our account. Haven't had any troubles since. :)
