Is there a 1st or 2nd Cook around to post the latest on all Confisco/Backwater happenin's.... before, during (& even after) HHN?
Thanks!
Jim

I would love to hear more about the new breakfast there.

Yeah, I'm still ere. Just been working some crazy hours so I haven't posted much.

News about Confisco's? Well, the brekfast buffet' still going on Fri, Sat and Sundays. IT probably will be going on straight through the end of the year because they sent out promotional info on it to annual passholders and prospective vacationers.

We do a limited brekfast menu on the weekdays when the gates open an hour before the park itself does. On said menu is a continental brekfast; croissant, egg, ham and cheese sandwich; a brekfast skillet; and a brekfast pizza.

The pita chips are gone, we now have bread service. They're awesome little ciabatta dinner rolls (better than that cardboard crap they've been giving out at MYthos for over a year now) with a sund-dried tomato butter Chef Tom came up with. Good stuff.

For HHN, we have a limited menu of our most popular dishes. It includes: chix ceasar wrap, pad thai, penne puteneska, wings, stingers, soup, bacon cheddar burger, chix ciabatta sandwich, rib platter, mixed grill, three cheese and meat pizza, nachos, moon club sanwich, chix quesadilla, fajitas (beef, chix or combo). Sorry it's not grouped by menu type, I just spouted them off as they're set up on the line. We also have the normal kid's menu and for dessert: chocolate sabayon, choc banna bread pudding and straw cheesecake.

We have an awesome magician dressed as a dead chef walking the floor every HHN night. As far as hours go, we've only been busy one night so far (this past Saturday), so we've been closing early. We're scheduled to close with the park (that means 12 on non-peak nights, 2 on peak), but that can change on a day-to-day basis. We've closed as early as 10:30 on non-peak and 12 on peak. IF you're going to HHN and want to eat, I'd recommend eating right off the back or making a ressie for that reason. Mind you, we are the only full-service restaurant open for HHN.

Stop in to see me sometime, guys, I haven't seen you in a while. We've got soem great stuff going on.

Randy

One more thing, the last time you all came in to Confisco, a group picture was taken with me. Anybody have that scanned in?

So if we do the breakfast buffet, will we be able to go into the park early, like around say 8 am?

Wow! Randy thanks for that update! I wanted to mention that I love that chocolate banana bread pudding...its awesome! Looking forward to having lunch there in December!

My husband took that picture...scanning it right now! :)

Do they still have characters during the breakfast????

Oh and Jess, I want to see that pic!!! LOL....:p

Is that fair Spidey? I don't remember seeing YOUR pics! LOL! Just teasing! I'm working on it.

They do have character breakfasts on the weekends.

Ever since I got them the book and DVD, my nieces (4 y/o) have loved The Cat in the Hat, so I took them, my sister and nephew (2), to the Confiscos character breakfast. We got there around 10:00 or 10:30, and the place was empty.

The Grinch and the Cat tried to play with my hesitant nieces at the door before we sat down, and a few minutes later they came over to our table. They were really trying hard to entertain my neices, which was nice considering that we were probably the only people to do the character breakfast that day. And I had to give it up for the Grinch actor. Despite my nieces not having any idea who the Grinch is, he did a great job of keeping their interest.

The handler, Jake I think, was really great. He remembered me from when I asked about the breakfast a few weeks before. I mentioned to him how they used to have a much bigger CB before, and how I missed the paper table clothes that you could draw on when the park first opened.

After a long while of the characters playing with just us, the handler said they had to go, but that they'd be back. We went and got food and what not, but a few minutes later, lo and behold, the handler returns, this time with Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Now, if there's one thing my nieces love, it's Thing 1 and Thing 2. They're twins, so they somehow relate to the characters on a completely different level then most children (they have actually assigned who is 1 and who is 2 amongst each other).

I thought it was incredibly nice that despite us being the only people at the breakfast, they bothered to go and change into different characters just so my nieces could have two more play friends. Then, out of nowhere the handler pops up with squares of the same material the paper table clothes used to be made out of , so my nieces could crayon with Thing 1 & Thing 2.

Though out the whole time, nearly the entire staff was getting into it. Our waitress (didn't catch her name, unfortunately) was super nice, and another waiter who wasn't even serving us kept coming over to play sword fight with my nieces.

When I first sat down, I felt that I was about to wasted a lot of money on a breakfast we could have gotten at the Ponderosa. But after the staff and characters put so much effort into making the meal enjoyable, and giving my nieces some intimate play time with some of their favorite characters, I thought it was all more then worth it.

I have to admit that the Disney character meals are much better in terms of number of characters, character recognizably, and character costume design, but considering the lengths the Confisco's character meal staff went to for us, it put them in the same ranks as the Disney folks. And, most importantly, my nieces enjoyed them both just as much.

You know what's funny? Everybody looks slightly different then I remeber them looking. Not completely different... just slightly.

Oh, I remember those pants. I ripped those pants. I used to love those pants.

Thanks for posting it Kevin! OH and....so sorry about those pants:p

Kevin,
It's experiences and moments like your breakfast that always makes me smile. Sounds like a wonderful breakfast and a forever memory for all. Thanks for sharing that!

Thanks Jess.

The Disney meals are always great because the characters and wait staff are always so nice and make the character meals so much fun.

But the Confisco's breakfast didn't even seem like a character meal. The way I remember it, it just felt like my necies got to hang out and be friends with these characters. It was really just a different expereince thanks completly to the staff that made it that way.

*sigh*... I miss those pants...

So that's what MsDis, MIB9s, JessicaR, h20jag, and thefirstcook look like. For some reason, I expected MsDis and MIB9s to be younger.

I always wondered what the secret to Mythos' yummy bread was! :p

I am so wanting to try this now. I just think people don't know enough about it. On my last trip there was a sign outside talking about breakfast, but no mention of characters. I think more people would attend if they knew about this.

By the way, Great picture!!! and thanks for the info Kevin!:D
