Can anyone confirm that Easter Mass will be held "on site" this year. I realize that Sunday Mass has been discontinued, but wasn't sure about Easter.

I appreciate your input. Thanks!

Your best bet would be to contact Mary, Queen of the Universe shrine. They would know. When I was trying to find out about Christmas mass, all the CMs I spoke to didn't know anything, but the shrine was able to give me the info.

Send the Shrine an e-mail. They will get back with you.

I agree with the suggestion of e-mailing them. My guess is they will not be having the on-site masses since they include an explanation of why the WDW Masses have been discontinued along with the Easter schedule. But, it doesn't hurt to ask to be sure they won't be holding them. Please post if you do get a definite answer.

Thanks! I sent them an e-mail and will let everyone know their response.

We were just at WDW and went to mass at Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine on March 29th.

The place is huge and can accomodate lots of people; HOWEVER, our family was extremely disappointed in that the Director of the Shrine officiated the mass and went on and on about the shrine. Then at the time of the homily was giving a sales pitch for a trinket in the gift shop. I kind of took this in stride, but was extremely disappointed that so much emphasis was placed on the shrine ... I almost felt like I was at one of those time share things.

My husband, after 20 years of marriage, is becoming a Catholic at Easter Vigil and he was VERY disenchanted!!

On our next visit, I think we'll take the extra time to travel to the parish in Kissimmie for weekend mass.

Make sure you go VERY early for the Easter Masses at the Shrine as there is always a huge traffic jam turning left onto the street it is on. (Vineland)

If you go to mass at the Contemporary, they will direct you to parking. There isn't a lot of parking. If you can take a bus to MK and take the monorail from there, that would be the best way.

Unfortunately, the Shrine does have to make a bit of a sales pitch or it would not exist. It is not a parish and depends solely on the people who come to the Shrine to finance it. I know it can be a bit disconcerting but they have to do a little "ask and you shall receive" or they won't receive. ;) With tourism down in Orlando, the Shrine's income is also down so maybe it got a little heavy-handed. Those who can't afford to contribute are still welcome to worship it's just that some of us Catholics do need a reminder once in awhile. Just take it in stride.

Heck, my pastor here at home gives a bigger pitch just about every week. ;)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have not heard back from the Shrine yet, but will share if I do.

Thanks!

TRAPPED-PARENT - That's great, I too was baptized Catholic at the East Vigil 25 years ago.
