I know this is non Disney, but I just booked this hotel for our upcoming stay. We are going to stay here 4 nights and 5 nights at DL.

Thanks for all you help.

Hi! We stayed at Shelter Pointe a couple of years ago. The rooms seemed like they had been recently renovated then. They were done in a bright, tropical motif. They were small, but nice and clean. There is a beach and marina behind the hotel, and the ocean is facing the front of the hotel, just across the street. There is a nice restaurant near the main building, also. We were on the first floor, and we had a little patio with a couple of chairs and a table. I can't remember if the upper levels had balconies or not--I think they did.

Shelter Island is tiny. I think there are two other hotels there, and that's about it. It's very quiet and peaceful, but it's near all the major attractions. I think it took about 5 minutes to get to the zoo and Old Town, and about 10 to get to Sea World. It's a great place to stay.

Oh, there was a parking fee when we went, so be prepared. I think it was $10 per night--kind of steep, I thought.

Hope this helps! :D

Parking is now $8. I also think this is steep. I would rather they just add it into the room rate so I would not know I was paying such as outrageous price for parking - lol

Thanks for the input. The rooms look nice at least on their website. I am wondering if the junior suite is worth the upgrade?

Have a nice day.

Hmm...the junior suite might be worth it if you need more space--the rooms are really small. They have a gated parking lot, which is why it costs so much, I guess. You get a little permit to scan everytime you need to get in and out.

I think you'll like it there. Have fun! :D

We are also staying there April 5-7.

I read a bunch of reviews from several different web sites and they were very favorable.

We were originally booked at Paradise Point, but they had so many negative reviews I decided to change. It was to expensive to take the risk.

When are you going, I will let you know how it was.

By the way I saved about 50 a night when I called back to see if there were any additional discounts.

We are staying 4/20 - 4/24, before we go up tp DL. I reserved a 2 queen bed with waterview. The reservationist said it water view would be either bayside or marina side.

We are paying:

$89 per night plus $6/day for breakfasts (hope that's not a mistake). Parking is kind of steep at $8 day.

I had originally book the Comfort Suites at Mission Valley for $99/night. I did this back in January. I just called the Shelter Pointe this past Sunday night.

It looks like a nice place. I was almost going to call back and ask how much the Jr. Suite would be.

Have fun. I look forward to your trip report.

LOL, momoftwins! We must have the same taste in hotels because we've also stayed at that same Comfort Suites!

Shelter Pointe is MUCH nicer. That particular Comfort Suites was just okay. The room was really dark and cramped, and the air wasn't circulating very well in there. Also, it's right off the interstate, so it's in a really busy area.

That's a really good rate for Shelter Pointe. We paid $115/night, but it was in the middle of the summer.

I am so glad I changed. Just so you know, I was paying $99/night at the Comfort Suites. This place at $89 looks like a steal.

I'm doing the happy dance!
