Any Cleveland area DVCers??

The picnic sounds fun - we will probably just miss it by a week or two. Next year though! Glad to see there are so many Dis'ers up there!

We are in Strongsville. We have been members since 1995. We usually drive, but tomorrow we fly. This will be a 1st with our 16 month old daughter, but it will be her 5th trip to WDW.

Yes, the weather here sucks!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait till we can move to Florida. I call this place the cloud capital of the world. Although, today is sunny, but it is only 22 degrees. I grew up on the east side. It snows more over there then where we live now.

We do have lots of good hospitals.

Towncrier: Maybe we will be able to make the party this year. We were in WDW last year and I had to work the year before that.

The more the merrier, Denine. It will be great to see you and the family again. Have a safe and wonderful trip to WDW.

KLR - When you get to Cleveland, post something on the boards or PM me and we'll setup a "Welcome Home" meet for you and your family.

Welcome to Cleveland!
I live in Bedford on the east side of Cleveland and have lived in the Cleveland area all of my life. Cleveland is not so bad, except for the winters. Especially when the Lake Erie snow machine is up and running!

We have been DVCers since 2002. We manage to go down only once a year. We have school aged children and only go down during the vacation months. We usually drive down, because it kills me to think of spending close to $1000 to fly down. We usually do the trip in 2 days, stopping in GA or SC. It's not too bad.

Please send more info about the DIS picnics. Would love to meet everyone!

Towncrier - I'll get in touch once we're settled - whenever that will be!

I'm beginning to be even happier about doing our add-on - I'm thinking at least 10 days of sun will be in order for each of our trips!

Welcome back to NE Ohio. We live in LA (Lower Akron). We get about 40% less snow and 20% more sun than Cleveland( its a lake thing).
Akron Canton airport usually has great deals on airfare to Orlando.
We are an easy 1 day drive from HH but usually take 1-1/2 days to drive to WDW.
Make sure you plan a trip to Cedar Point and the Islands. Cedar Point rivals WDW in cleanliness and the coasters are unmatched anywhere in the World.
The last 2 winters have been brutal. What happen to Global Warming everyone was promising.

Hey everyone! I'm a hopeful future DVCer.

I live in Mentor, Ohio and I think it is a wonderful community. Welcome back!!

BTW aren't we all whiny about our winters? :) I still love it here though!

I'm excited about the meets...are they just for DVCers or DISers in general?

Although I don't recall there ever being a DVC only meet in Ohio (unless I wasn't invited), there have always been quite a few DVCers at all the DISmeets that I have attended. As I mentioned before, keep an eye on the DIS MEETS Board if you dont want to miss the opportunity to meet with other DISers.

Just bumping this thread to the top for all the Cleveland DVC DISers who might have missed it the first time around.

I also want to put in a shameless plug for the 4th annual NE Ohio Memorial Day DISmeet picnic. I have posted the dates and times for the weekend of May 28th. Friday night and all day Saturday we'll be at Cedar Point. Sunday will be the all day picnic at our home in Macedonia.

For those of you who aren't able to attend the DVC Member Homecoming, this will be the next best thing.

Wow......we live 25 miles south of Cleveland but have a weekend home in Roaming Shores right next to Orwell. I guess I have been here all my life so the weather doesn't really get to me. I think it is really better then Florida in July & August.

We live in medina, or mayberry Ohio as I like to call it! The weather isn't that bad, my corporate office is in MN and I handle new york, penn and ohio and I will take Ohio over the other 2 as far as snow goes anyday, we measure in inches and they measure in feet.

Continental has a hub here in cleveland and flights are more realistically $230 - $300, but that drive from here to there is awful, way too much time in the car for me.

Watch the travel deals especially fare and rental sales, and you should be ok.

Welcome back

To quote the former head coach of the Bengals, Sam Wyche:

"We don't live in Cleveland, we live in Cincinnati."

I am a DVC member who live 25 miles west of Cleveland. We just bought Saratoga Springs last Wednesday.
Welcome to the cold and snow.
There has been an improvement to our weather over the last week so hopefully spring is not far away.
