... of getting a backstage tour? I just read a review of "Twiced Charmed" and it described the stage. WOW. We are heavily involved with community theater and would love to see how it all works. Any thoughts on how/if we can arrange this?

On some of the 7 night (or longer) cruises I have been on, they have had "behind the scenes" with the theater company. You meet the member of the cast and they give you info about the theater. We did this a number of years ago so maybe things have changed (I'm sure someone will update my info.) But we didn't go behind the curtains of the stage. It was just info about the theater. While it was very interesting, it wasn't what I would call a behind the scenes tour. (Don't know if they take you back there now or if there is some insurance liability in taking guests there.)

The other possibility is getting a "Magical Moment" from a cast member. Talk to Guest Services, the Cruise Staff, or if you meet any of the Theater Cast about your community theater and that you would love a more in depth tour. I understand the Cast Members might be able to create these Magical Moments for you (although we have never been lucky enough to get one!)

Its been several cruises (and years) since I did this, but this is the way it was a few years ago - it may have changed now. But here is my experience

In "The Art Of Entertainment" series the is a "Backstage Tour". You meet at the Walt Disney Theater and Stage Managers, Sound / Lighting techs, costumers will talk about what it takes to put on a production at sea. At the end you get to go up onstage and take a look around.

In this same series there is an opportunity to meet some of the preformers too.

Edited to add: I started typing this before there were any other posts, got interrupted (dang work anyway) finished my post and see that someone said the same thing (including that it's been several years since they've participate in this too)

Our experience was much the same as the above. The really neat thing is that some of the performers were on an excursion with us the day after the "behind the scenes," and posed for photos with my daughter, talked with her, etc.

I've only seen the "behing the scenes" on the 7 day cruises.

Thanks I'll keep all of this in mind. Luckily we are on the 7 day cruise.

Our DD17 is taking an Honors Theater course this year and I thought it might be a great expierence if we got a REAL behind the scenes tour! :bounce:

A "magical moment" is something a crew member does to make your cruise special that is usually totally unexpected and over and above what you would normally expect.

A MAGICal Moment would be a great surprise. I'll make sure to pack my pixie dust just for luck - or I'll bring my Tinker Bell lanyard full of Tinker Bell pins - that should be enough pixie dust! :wizard:
